West Virginia State Conservation Camp
June 15-19, 2026
If you are 14-17 years old and would like to attend a conservation camp, the West Virginia State Conservation Camp at Camp Caesar in Webster County is probably what you're looking for! Participants spend the mornings learning about the state's natural resources in a block-schedule format and enjoy afternoon activities such as archery, boating, rifle marksmanship, fishing and outdoor cooking. The West Fork Conservation District held a training day for students to prepare for the State Envirothon Contest. The event took place on March 19, 2026, at the Doddridge County Park in West Union, WV. The 2 schools attending were Doddridge & Clay. The topics included soils, water, wildlife and forestry. Instructors were: Soils—Matalyn Stark (Area Resource Soil Scientist - NRCS), Water – Martin Christ (WVDEP), Wildlife - Tom Snyder (Retired Glenville State College), and Forestry—Jesse King (Gilmer County Forester), Cody Adkison (Doddridge County Forester). Several of West Fork’s Board Members were there to lend a hand and to provide lunch to all that attended. The weather was overcast & a little chilly, but that didn't stop them. We hope that the students left with some valuable information that will help them at the WV State Envirothon on April 16th and 17th at Camp Caesar. Good Luck to all!!

There is a new site to register for the Appalachian Grazing Conference, for anyone who is having trouble registering on the old one.
