The West Virginia State Civilian Conservation Corps Museum Association operates a wonderful museum located in the historic 1922 Quiet Dell Grade School in Central West Virginia just off I79-Exit 115, South of Bridgeport-Clarksburg. The main CCC Museum is located in one of the large classrooms on the campus of the Quiet Dell Grade School, which is owned by the Harrison County, West Virginia Commiss
ion. The organization is made up of volunteers who meet once a month, 3rd Sunday, 2 p.m. The organization holds, at least, three major events during the year. The Spring CCC Recognition Jubilee third Saturday in April, the Fall CCC Recognition Jubilee, third Saturday in October, both of which begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Quiet Dell United Methodist Church, almost across from the museum. And, the Annual CCC Anniversary Day Celebration, the last Sunday in March which commemorates the signing of the CCC Bill into law by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933. Members of the organization travel to various State Parks to honor CCC Veterans, including participation in the Mountaineer Forest Festival Grande Parade in early October. The CCC Museum campus also has two replica CCC barracks, one complete and the other in progress, and a donated 1931 AA Ford Truck donated by CCC Vet Ken Scribner of NC. The museum is open 7 days a week. Monday-Saturday 10-5 and Sundays 1-5. But, to be sure, call ahead at 304 622 3304. For tours call 304 363 4388 Charles Piercy Acting President.
