As Macomb County Prosecutor, my duty is to seek justice, protect the innocent, and hold the guilty accountable.

While the police have many tools at their disposal, body cameras have been a total game-changer. They provide a clear, objective look at what actually happens on the streets, helping us better understand crimes and refine the sentencing process. Whether we are addressing assaultive behavior or routing individuals toward the mental health resources they need, more tools mean a fairer, more transparent justice system for Macomb County.

Did You Know?
A prosecutor’s job is not simply to win cases.

✅ The responsibility of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is to seek justice.
✅ That means enforcing the law, protecting the public, supporting victims, and respecting due process.
✅ Every case is different and must be reviewed on its own facts.
✅ Good prosecution requires fairness, preparation, judgment, and integrity.
✅ Justice must always be guided by the evidence and the law.

The work of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office carries a serious responsibility. My office must balance accountability, fairness, public safety, victims’ rights, and the rights of the accused. That is why every decision must be guided by the facts, the evidence, and the law. Our goal is, and must always be, justice.

Ever wonder how a criminal case actually begins in Macomb County?

I sat down with two men who see this system from every angle: Roseville Police Chief Mitch Berlin and Honorable Judge Joseph F. Boedeker. Together, we break down the entire lifecycle of a criminal case here in Macomb County.

From the initial police investigation to the formal authorized complaint, and finally to the "swear-to" process before a district court judge, each step is critical to establishing probable cause and issuing a warrant. Whether it’s an arraignment for an individual in custody or a scheduled appearance, our district courts are where the journey toward justice and accountability begins.

Mount Clemens, MI – Under the leadership of Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office continues its relentless mission to protect seniors from criminals who target vulnerable members of our community. Over the last four years, Prosecutor Lucido and his office have delivered more than 230 S.C.A.M.S. (Stopping Crimes Against Macomb Seniors) presentations throughout Macomb County — an unmatched effort demonstrating his unwavering commitment to senior safety.

No one in Macomb County is working harder to protect seniors than Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

Rather than waiting for seniors to come to him, Prosecutor Lucido has made it his mission to meet seniors where they are — visiting senior centers, retirement communities, libraries, VFW halls, community centers, churches, and Senior EXPOs across the county. His message is direct: prevent, protect, and prosecute.

“Protecting our seniors is not just a duty — it is a responsibility,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Our seniors deserve to live safely, with dignity and peace of mind. Criminals who target the elderly are cowards, and my office will aggressively pursue anyone who exploits, abuses, or scams our aging residents.”

As stated by Eaton County Prosecutor Doug Lloyd, “Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido has developed an outstanding program to help seniors in Macomb County avoid scams, and it is a model worth building on.”

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has made elder protection a top priority through its dedicated Senior Crimes and Consumer Protection Unit. In addition to aggressively prosecuting offenders, the office continues to expand outreach and prevention efforts to arm seniors with the information they need to avoid becoming victims.

As part of the initiative, the Prosecutor’s Office distributes its informational booklet, “S.C.A.M.S. – Stopping Crimes Against Macomb Seniors,” which educates seniors about the many forms of fraud and exploitation targeting older adults. Topics include identity theft, telemarketing fraud, internet scams, phishing schemes, home improvement fraud, caregiver theft, banking scams, and financial exploitation.

Prosecutor Lucido is warning residents to remain vigilant against several recent scams circulating throughout the community, including:

• A fake flyer titled “Setting Up Lockbox/Garage Code with Macomb County Dispatch”

• Fraudulent “GEEK Squad” invoice and auto-renewal emails

• Fake banking or loan approval emails

• Callers posing as relatives in jail requesting money

“These scams are designed to create panic, confusion, and fear,” Lucido stated. “Never give personal information, banking information, passwords, or money to anyone over the phone or through email unless you are absolutely certain who you are dealing with.”

Elder abuse can take many forms — physical, emotional, financial, and neglect — and it often goes unnoticed or unreported. Prosecutor Lucido emphasized that community awareness and reporting are critical to protecting vulnerable seniors and holding offenders accountable.

“It is vitally important that the public remain vigilant and report elder abuse,” Lucido said. “The only way abusers can be stopped is if people speak up. My office will continue fighting every day to ensure seniors are protected and those responsible are brought to justice.”

Prosecutor Lucido also recognized Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Danielle Strace and Caitlin Sahlaney for their dedication and tireless efforts serving Macomb County’s senior population.

“The work our assistant prosecuting attorneys do to hold abusers accountable and protect vulnerable seniors is critical,” stated Lucido. “Elder abuse cases demand both legal skill and compassion, and I am proud of the dedication our team shows in pursuing justice for those who are too often overlooked or taken advantage of.”

If you suspect elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation, report it immediately by calling:

(855) 444-3911 any time, day or night, contacting your local police department, or calling 911 in an emergency.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office continues to offer free S.C.A.M.S. presentations throughout Macomb County. Seniors attending the presentations receive educational materials, scam prevention guidance, and practical tools to recognize and avoid fraud.

He has a S.C.A.M.S. program, Stopping Crimes Against Macomb Seniors, and he shared a lot of very useful information and provided us with a very helpful booklet. If you know anyone who is a senior, you may want to share this knowledge with them. Thank you, Prosecutor Lucido.”

Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that 51-year-old Kimberley Anne Mathers, of Chesterfield, was arraigned today on charges stemming from an alleged drunk driving vehicle collision.

It is alleged that on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Mathers was driving a 2026 Kia in Chesterfield Township and struck a Jeep Cherokee parked on the street. It is further alleged that Mathers was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, Mathers was arraigned before Judge William H. Hackel, III in the 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore, MI. Mathers is charged with the following:

• Operating While Intoxicated – 3rd Offense Notice, a felony, punishable by up to 5 years

• Third or Subsequent Offense Notice, mandatory vehicle immobilization if not forfeited, other combinations of sentence possible

These are the maximum charges available under the law based on the evidence presented to date.

Judge Hackel gave Mathers a $5,000 personal bond. He ordered her to not consume alcohol or drugs. She must have a SoberLink alcohol monitoring device by the end of the day and test four times daily. Within seven days, a psychiatrist’s evaluation must be submitted to the court with a recommendation of whether Mathers should attend intensive outpatient treatment or inpatient treatment for alcohol abuse. Mathers is scheduled for a Probable Conference before Judge Hackel at the 42-2 District Court on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

In a related matter, Mathers pled no contest to Operating While Impaired before District Court Judge Hackel on May 11, 2026. After she was arrested on May 13, 2026, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office filed an Emergency Bond Motion related to Mathers’ second arrest and the necessity of court intervention to protect the public and ensure compliance with the court’s orders.

At today’s hearing, Judge Hackel arraigned her on the bond violation in light of the new charge. Mathers pled not guilty to the bond violation. Judge Hackel set the matter for a Bond Hearing. Original bond conditions remain in place. The original sentencing date was adjourned by the court, and the bond hearing will be scheduled by the court.

“The defendant is charged with Operating While Intoxicated Third Offense, demonstrating a blatant disregard for the law and the safety of the community. Driving while under the influence is extremely dangerous conduct that places innocent lives at risk. This type of repeated behavior cannot and will not be tolerated, and our office will continue to pursue accountability for those who endanger the public in this manner,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the People. We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All individuals who are accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

May is National Foster Care Month, a time to recognize the children and young people in foster care, the families who open their homes, and the many professionals and advocates who work to support them.

Every child deserves safety, stability, and the opportunity to grow in a caring environment. As Prosecuting Attorney, I know how important it is that our community continues to protect children, support families, and stand with those who are most vulnerable.

This month, I encourage everyone to take a moment to recognize the foster parents, relatives, caseworkers, advocates, service providers, and community members who make a difference in the lives of children and youth in foster care. Their compassion and commitment help build stronger futures.

Mount Clemens, MI – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announces that 70-year-old Robert Jordan, of Harrison Township, MI, was arraigned on multiple Criminal Sexual Conduct charges involving a juvenile victim.

It is alleged that from June 2009 to the end of December 2015, Jordon sexually assaulted the juvenile victim multiple times.

On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, Jordan was arraigned before Magistrate Ryan Zemke in the 41B District Court in Clinton Township, MI. Jordan is charged with the following offenses:

THREE COUNTS: Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree (Person Under 13, Defendant 17 years or older), a felony punishable by life or any term of years, mandatory minimum of 25 years with lifetime electronic monitoring

TWO COUNTS: Criminal Sexual Conduct – Second Degree (Person Under 13, Defendant 17 years or older), a 15-year felony with lifetime electronic monitoring

These are the maximum charges available under the law based on the evidence presented to date.

“The allegations in this case are extremely disturbing and, if proven true, represent a profound betrayal of a child’s safety and trust. Children deserve to grow up free from exploitation and harm, and adults have a duty to protect them. My office will aggressively pursue justice for the victim and seek full accountability for the defendant,” said Peter J. Lucido.

Magistrate Zemke set bond at $250,000 cash or surety only. If Jordan is able to post bond, he will be subject to house arrest with a steel-cuff GPS tether. He must have no contact with the victim or anyone 17 years of age or younger.

Jordan is scheduled to appear for a Probable Cause Conference before Judge Carrie Lynn Fuca at the 41B District Court on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office represents the People. We are committed to achieving justice and following the laws of the State of Michigan. All individuals who are accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
