Macomb County’s Planning & Natural Resources team was proud to lead a coastal resiliency tour during last month’s National Planning Conference in Detroit, attended by more than 4,000 planners.

We showcased two major projects: the renovated Chapotan Basin, which now holds 28 million gallons of stormwater to protect Lake St. Clair, and the Ford Cove shoreline restoration, supported by a $7.5M grant for habitat improvements, native plantings, and naturalized shoreline.

Great turnout, great questions, and a great opportunity to highlight Macomb’s leadership in coastal resiliency.

To close out we're shining a spotlight on our marketing and communications team --- the people behind-the-scenes making big things happen for our department.

These folks support our economic development efforts by forming strategies and building plans that promote our work and connect businesses and partners with our team. But since they're behind-the-scenes, finding photos of them in action was a challenge. So here's a peak at a few of them working the recent Macomb Business Awards - which brought together 400 attendees to celebrate business in our community. Our mar/comm group was in charge of everything, and frankly, they made it look easy!

So shoutout to this team for everything they do. While you're not in economic development, you are an essential part of that process and we appreciate all of your creative efforts.
