TOWN OF MOUNT GILEAD — OFFICIAL STORM UPDATE

The Town of Mount Gilead experienced significant flooding in multiple areas throughout town as a result of last night's storm.

Flooding at Stanback Park has caused severe structural damage to the bridge. As a precautionary measure, the bridge is closed to all pedestrian traffic until further notice.

The Town asks all residents to avoid this area while our staff assesses the damage and determines next steps for repair. Barricades and signage will be placed to mark the closure.

We will provide updates as more information becomes available regarding the timeline for repairs and reopening.

Residents experiencing flooding-related hazards are encouraged to contact Town Hall at (910)-439-5370.

Whether you're passionate about planning, parks and recreation, historic preservation, beautification, economic development, or improving communication with residents, there’s an opportunity to get involved!

Current Opportunities Include:

🏘️ Planning & Zoning Board
Help guide future growth through recommendations on zoning, land use, development, and long-range planning.

🏛️ Historic Preservation Commission
Help preserve and protect Mount Gilead’s historic character and resources.

🌺 Community Appearance Board
Support beautification efforts and initiatives that enhance Mount Gilead’s appearance and public spaces.

🌳 Parks & Recreation Committee
Provide input on parks, recreational facilities, community events, and future programming.

🏢 Redevelopment Corporation Board
Help provide oversight of the Town-owned Redevelopment Building while supporting small businesses and future economic development opportunities.

📣 Communications Committee – Now Gathering Interest
Help shape how the Town connects with residents through its website, social media, press relations, community engagement, and other communication initiatives.
