Heat Advisory is in effect this afternoon through Wednesday evening with afternoon heat indices near 100 F.

A persistent heat dome will remain in place this week, with temperatures warming into the mid-90s and heat indices in the low 100s. Remain in air-conditioned spaces as much as possible, drink plenty of water and fluids throughout the day, wear loose-fitting, lightweight, and light-colored clothing, and avoid high-energy activities, strenuous outdoor work, or exercising during the hottest hours. Don't forget to check on family members, older adults, neighbors, and people without reliable cooling, and NEVER leave children or pets alone in a hot vehicle.

For Morrow County…

* WHAT...Peak heat index values ranging from the upper 90s to lower
100s Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Overnight lows in the low to
mid 70s will provide for limited nighttime relief from the heat.

* WHERE...Portions of north central, northeast, and northwest Ohio.

* WHEN...From 2 PM Tuesday to 8 PM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Hot and humid conditions will continue on
Thursday, and portions of the Heat Advisory may need to be
extended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Severe thunderstorm watch has been issued through 9 PM. Primary threats are damaging winds and large hail.

Scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop ahead of a cold front this afternoon through the evening.
There is a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for a few strong to severe storms over northern Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania. The main severe hazard will be isolated damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph followed by a lesser threat of large hail up to the size of Quarters possible.

⚠️🌧️ Showers and thunderstorms will develop along a boundary later this afternoon and evening, generally along and south of US-30. Rain could become heavy at times overnight (yellow-circled area), though the greater risk for flooding will be further south into Central Ohio.

We have fantastic news! Richland, Ashland, Knox, Crawford, and Morrow counties have partnered to offer a CERT basic training class this fall. This course is approximately 20 hours total and will follow a hybrid schedule, featuring virtual lessons twice a week followed by an in-person, hands-on final exercise day. (Must attend all classes and final hands-on day to receive your certificate)

..FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of north central Ohio, including the following
counties, Knox, Morrow and Richland.

* WHEN...Until 930 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 530 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1.5 inches of rain have
fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Mount Gilead, Lexington, Fredericktown, Cardington,
Bellville, Danville, Chesterville, Waterford, Butler, Edison,
Gann and North Liberty.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
