CUSTOMERS OF MOUNT HOREB ELECTRIC UTILITY

Mount Horeb Electric Utility has filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) to increase electric rates. The adjustment has been requested in order to cover costs associated with the new substation and associated feeders exits detailed in PSC docket #3930-CE-104. The requested adjustment is also to cover inflationary increases in operational and maintenance expenses and costs associated with maintaining the reliability of the electric distribution system. The last electric rate increase was approved in April 2009.

The utility is requesting an overall increase of 7.27%, or $488,572. The final impact of the rate increase upon individual customers will not be definitely known until the PSC issues an order; however, under the proposed rate structure, based on an average usage of 639 kilowatt-hours (kWh), the typical residential customer’s monthly bill would increase from $76.60 per month to $82.18 per month, an increase of $5.58 or 7.3%.

The PSC will conduct a public hearing at locations in Mount Horeb and Madison. A notice of the hearing will be published after a date has been set. The Mount Horeb Water Utility will conduct its fall Hydrant Flushing starting October 3rd and continuing through October 21st. Should your water become discolored, let your tap run for approximately 5 to 10 minutes, and it should clear up. Please try to do your laundry in the evening hours if possible.
