Good Afternoon Mount Horeb! We were approached about the idea of hosting a scooter/e-bike safety course for kids. ‍🛴🚲 We loved the idea. With the help of some good friends, we made it happen.

This course will be one and a half hours long to cover the basics of bike and scooter safety. There will be three different courses held (all are the same course, just different days to allow as many kids as possible to attend).

Through a collaboration with the Mount Horeb Area School District and the Mount Horeb Rec Department, we will be hosting these classes at the Mount Horeb Middle School on July 6, July 27, and August 4th. All three will be from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

There will be extra law enforcement presence at the Karakahl today. Dane County Tactical units will be utilizing the facility for a training exercise throughout the day.

The new owners have been generous enough to allow law enforcement to use the property for training before it is torn down.

We're asking for your help if you have any form of security cameras in the area of the map shown here. We've taken numerous reports of damaged property from rocks being thrown through the windows and doors of residences in this affected area. This took place in the overnight/early morning hours on Monday and Tuesday, 6/15 and 6/16.

If willing, we're asking that you look through your camera footage and notify us if you find any information that could help us to identify the individual(s) who are doing this. If you have information that would lead us to these people, we would greatly appreciate a phone call.

Don't forget to come down to Stewart Lake for Free Fishing Weekend and our annual Cops and Bobbers event. Saturday 9A-11A we will have snacks, water, bait and poles are provided.

Parents in Mount Horeb, we are asking for your help. We are getting more and more complaints regarding juveniles on e-bikes and electric scooters on the roadways, and different areas within the Village. We are asking that you have a very serious conversation with your children about safe operation on their devices.

These scooters in many instances, are considered vehicles when looking at traffic laws. This means they must obey applicable traffic laws such as Stopping at Signs, yielding right of ways, Not driving against Traffic etc.

If they fail to obey these laws, they may receive citations for the violations. The schools have shared information about safe operation, and our officers have been trying to make educational contacts with people seen violating laws, but the complaints continue to come in.

We need parents to also have very serious conversations about this before we see somebody getting hurt in an accident.
