National Volunteer Month Spotlight: Ms. Rhonda’s Favorites!

April is National Volunteer Month, and we are kicking things off by celebrating the heart and soul of the Mount Jackson Community Library—our incredible volunteers! Today, we are shining a spotlight on one of our most dedicated team members, Ms. Rhonda.

Rhonda is a true bibliophile with a passion for stories that stay with you long after the final page. We sat down with her to hear about her top picks, and she’s curated a powerful list of recommendations for your next visit:

A GENTLEMAN IN MOSCOW by Amor Towles
Rhonda shares that Towles is "a master storyteller whose writing is unforgettable and full of insight."

A Glimpse into the Story: Step into the grand Metropol Hotel in 1922, where Count Alexander Rostov is sentenced to house arrest for life. While the world outside undergoes a massive revolution, the Count discovers that a life confined to one building can still be one of immense purpose, friendship, and emotional depth.

THE ALICE NETWORK by Kate Quinn
Rhonda loves how Quinn writes about "remarkable women who made a difference in WWII."

A Glimpse into the Story: This dual-timeline novel weaves together the lives of a female spy recruited to the real-life "Alice Network" during WWI and an unconventional American socialite searching for her cousin in 1947. It’s a mesmerizing tale of courage, redemption, and the secret women who risked everything for their country.

THE NIGHTINGALE by Kristin Hannah
Rhonda recommends this as "great fiction about inspiring women facing major hardships."

A Glimpse into the Story: Set in German-occupied France, two sisters—separated by age and ideals—embark on their own dangerous paths toward survival. While one joins the Resistance to fight from the shadows, the other must navigate the agonizing choices required to protect her family from the enemy living under her own roof.

CHECK IT OUT at the Library! Ready for a deep dive into these incredible worlds? Come see us at the library to grab your copies or to chat with Rhonda about her favorite chapters!
