BACK TO SCHOOL TRAFFIC SAFETY — 2026

As students head back to school, the Mount Jackson Police Department reminds everyone to slow down, stay alert, and help keep our children safe.

🚸 Slow down and obey posted school-zone speed limits.
🚌 Stop for school buses when red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.
👀 Watch for children at crosswalks, bus stops, and along neighborhood streets.
📵 Put the phone down and avoid distracted driving.
⏰ Allow extra travel time during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal.

Parents and guardians, please remind children to use sidewalks and crosswalks, look both ways before crossing, and wait for the bus in a safe location away from traffic.

💙 A few extra seconds of patience can help prevent a tragedy.

Let’s work together to make the 2026–2027 school year a safe one for our students, families, school staff, and community.

Had an awesome time at the town park for National Night Out!!
Thank you to everyone that showed up and to all of our community partners that were there spreading their good news!!

The pie in the face fundraiser was a huge hit! We collected over $200 to go towards the Officer Chazz Beaver Scholarship!!

Thank you to everyone that contributed to this worthy cause!
Chief Cowart came in first with Susan Maziarz having the honor of smashing the pie in his face!
Officer Burns came in as a close second with Linda Blosser having the honors!
