We have set up the children's books left from the book sale so you can drop in and grab as many books as you would like for your classrooms!

There are books that range from babies to teens, so preschool teachers may also be interested!

What a fantastic time with the the PA Game Commission! Officers Havens and Slomian taught us so much about our native black bears…with 2 lucky participants a little more hands on than the rest who got to tag the ears!

This particular bear is male, 117lbs and over 2 years old. The Wardens explained he is a little small for his age and may have been malnourished as a cub. A tooth was pulled to send in for exact aging, which involves cutting the tooth to count the rings, yes, just like a tree!

Thank you to everyone who made it on such short notice and keep an eye out for future programs with the PGC!

Did you attend the Monarch classes with the Master Gardeners? The ID tags are now available for pick up! You will be hearing from Keith, so plan to stop on in for your tag and download the Monarch Watch app to upload your tagged butterfly info!

You didn't attend the classes but are interested for future tagging? MJML will be hosting the Master Gardeners again on October 17 for a repeat class!

You still have some time to buy raffle tickets for our birthday basket! The basket is full of items that were popular or first circulated in 1966, plus a few things that are popular now! Including a tie dye kit, snacks and a lava lamp!

Stop in to buy your tickets, 1 for $2 or 3 for $5. The winner will be drawn August 31 with all proceeds benefitting the library!

It's the last day of the Mount Jewett Swedish Festival! Drop in, shop the book sale, buy some raffle tickets (lottery tickets and 1966 birthday basket coolness!) and visit with author David McElwee!!

This morning was part 2 of the monarch butterfly classes with the Master Gardeners. If you missed out today, never fear, you will have another chance to become a Monarch Steward on October 17!

Today's focus was on Super Monarchs! No, they don't wear tiny capes, but they DO live longer and fly farther than the generations of monarchs that hatch earlier in the summer! Our next step is to catch and tag butterflies, upload the info into the Monarch Watch app, and then hope we see they have been spotted in Mexico!
