Junior EMT Academy – Final Day

This morning the cadets completed the first aid techniques including basic bandaging.
They then had a visit from Virtua Health's Paramedics. They explained the differences between Basic and Life Support providers and how EMTs and Paramedics effectively treat the patients together, but the paramedics bring more advanced medications and equipment to the patient then an EMT is trained to do so. They even performed an ECG on one of cadets.
Then one of our own, EMT/RN Dye, provided some insight on the hospitals and emergency departments.
Then we had a pizza lunch provided by the Township of Mount Laurel.

With today drawing to a close, we wish each and every one of our cadets the best in their future endeavors.

Junior EMT Academy - Day 2

This morning the cadets met our friends from Cooper EMS Outreach and Education & Cooper University Health Care Trauma. They learned what to do when someone had severe bleeding through the Stop The Bleed program.
Then we were had a visit from New Jersey State Police Aviation. The troopers explained what they offered to the surrounding areas, including searching form lost individuals, rapid transport of blood and organs.
Shortly followed by a visit from Burlington County Communications. We learned how a 911 called was processed and how police, fire and EMS were dispatched.
After lunch, we began learning first aid techniques.
Before the day could end we welcomed Mount Laurel Police Department. They explained that the police department does more than “just write tickets.” They also brought K-9s Drake and Cooper to meet the cadets.

Tomorrow is the final day of academy. Hopefully the excitement continues.

Junior EMT Academy - Day 1

This morning the cadets learned some history of ambulances, as well as how current ambulances differ.
They followed that with learning CPR and AED for Adults Children and Infants.
After lunch, we had a visit from the Mount Laurel Fire Department. We had some in depth discussions on what the fire department does and learned some fire prevention strategies.
The day wrapped up with a fire extinguisher simulator, showing us that it’s not always the safest idea to attempt to put out the fire ourselves. Thank you Evesham Fire-Rescue for allowing us the use of the simulator.
We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.

⚠EXTENDED ROAD WORK / CLOSURE ALERT - I 295 RAMPS TO ROUTE 73⚠

I-295 ramps to Route 73 to be closed and detoured beginning
Wednesday for priority gas main work in Mount Laurel.

Route 73 traffic to be shifted on Bridge over I-295.

We had the chance to have a visit from Mount Laurel Police Department’s Junior Police Academy today.

We discussed some important life safety topics (CPR & bleeding control).

We wish them well on the rest of their academy!

Congratulations to 2026 Initial EMT Course on achieving a 100% first time pass rate on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam!

With 76.18% being national first time pass rate on the EMT for the same time period.

Earning a 100% first-time pass rate is no small feat, and one that shows the hard work and dedication, of each and every one of the 13 students.

This also marks the second course in a row that we have had a 100% first time pass rate of an entire course.

Congratulations to the graduates of the 2026 Mount Laurel EMS EMT Course! 🎉🚑

Tonight we celebrated the dedication, hard work, and perseverance of a group of students who have completed one of the most challenging and rewarding steps toward a career in emergency medical services. Over the past five+ months, they devoted countless hours to learning the knowledge and skills needed to provide compassionate, lifesaving care to those in need. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you.

A special thank you goes to the families and friends who supported our students throughout this journey. Your encouragement, patience, and unwavering support played an important role in helping them reach this milestone.

We would also like to recognize the outstanding instructors of the Mount Laurel EMS Training Division. Their commitment to excellence, mentorship, and passion for educating the next generation of EMTs is evident in every class they teach.

Finally, congratulations and thank you to Mount Laurel EMS Training Division Lead Instructor Joe Zuber for leading and facilitating another successful EMT course. His dedication and leadership continue to make a lasting impact on the EMS profession and the communities these graduates will serve.

To the Class of 2026: Welcome to the EMS family. As you begin your EMS journey, remember that every call is an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. We wish you success, safety, and fulfillment as you serve your communities.

Mount Laurel EMS has a crew operating at the Fellowship Alliance Chapel fire in Medford along with Mount Laurel Office of Emergency Management assisting with EMS and firefighter rehab operations. We still have crews in town to respond to any local EMS calls as well.

🌡️ Dangerous Heat Continues Today 🌡️

The National Weather Service is forecasting another day of dangerous heat across our region, with temperatures exceeding 100°F in many locations and heat index values remaining well above that.

Please continue to remain vigilant during this prolonged heat wave:

* 💧 Stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activities whenever possible.
* 🏠 Take frequent breaks in air conditioning or the shade if you must be outside.
* 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Check on family members, friends, neighbors, and anyone who may be elderly, medically vulnerable, or without reliable air conditioning.
* 🚗 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a few minutes.

Burlington County residents can also follow the Burlington County Health Department for information on cooling centers and other resources available to vulnerable and at-risk residents.

If you or someone else is experiencing signs of a heat-related emergency, call 911 immediately.

Stay safe and continue to take this dangerous heat seriously.

💯🥵 Similarly very hot and humid conditions are expected again today, with triple digit highs and heat indices 105-115° for most. This will likely be the hottest day south of I-78, and the first time much of our region has experienced back-to-back triple digit temps in 15 years. A few isolated severe storms possible this afternoon/evening, but most remain dry.

There will be a very slight improvement in conditions for Independence Day, but dangerous heat will continue with highs in the mid 90s to near 100° and heat indices 100-110°. There is also a better (30-60%) chance of thunderstorms, including potential for severe storms. The heat will finally break on Sunday, with 60-90% chances of showers/storms.
