Toni T is the heart and soul of our department. She is the definition of a social butterfly and she is so fiercely loyal to everyone she cares about. We are so lucky to have her.

Scattered severe storms will be possible along/south of HWY 84 and isolated severe storms will be possible across central and western portions of the area. Storms will peak in intensity this afternoon before diminishing into the evening. Storms will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts.

🚨🔥🚨 BURN BAN🚨🔥🚨

As of yesterday August 18th, 2026, per the Mississippi Forestry Commission, Covington County is officially under a burn ban until midnight September 18th, 2026.

This means DO NOT BURN. We don't say this as a means of trying to ruin your bonfire plans, it's because any fire right now has the potential to get out of control very very quickly.

Per the MFC, "Anyone who knowingly and willfully violates a burning ban is guilty of a misdemeanor. These persons may receive a fine of not less than $100" And there's even more possible charges the bigger the fires get.
That sounds pretty expensive😬

On top of all of that, it is beyond hot out there. We have worked many fires this week already and we don't want to keep crashing surprise parties in 100 degree weather. It's not fun for us or you guys.

So once again, PLEASE DO NOT BURN.

Help us wish a very Happy Birthday to our own Paul Ellis!! 🎉🎉🎉

Mr. Paul has been within the fire service with us and Northwest Covington FD for many moons now. His experience and his keen insight makes him one of the best people around to get advice from. He can also build anything he puts his mind to and is constantly tinkering with new projects when he's not on calls.

We're so grateful for him and all his jokes.

Happy Happy Birthday to our Medical Supply Officer, Jenny!🎉🎉🎉

Jenny has been with MOFD for a few years now and she still has the same drive for knowledge as she did the first day on the job. She's very ambitious and she always makes sure the medical team has everything they need to keep taking care of our community.

Above all she's kind, witty and just so much fun to be around.

THANK YOU to all of you who came out to our fundraiser last night!!!!

Your support, even if it was just stopping by to buy a bag of peanuts, means we get to keep doing what we do best. We love our community so much and it means so much to us when y'all show up for us too.

And the biggest thank you to Lost Art of Wrestling for putting on an amazing show as per usual. Congratulations to all the new champions (especially our fave Vladimir Koloff) who were victorious in their matches! It was an insane night and we appreciate y'all. 🧑‍🚒♥️

Bro. Laban Blakeney is the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Saratoga, where he has served for 4 years, and has been surrendered into the Gospel Ministry for 7 years. He also works as an attorney out of Taylorsville.

We are excited to hear Laban speak tomorrow night in Mount Olive!
