RCS Academic Team had a great day of competition at Regional Governorās Cup hosted by Fleming County. It was great to see a lot of our Limestone family and catch up. A special thanks to Kristy Allison, without her help and serving as a composition reader, moderator and official, all season long, we literally would not be able to compete! Also, thank you to Academic Alum Dylan Maddox and Rachel Unthank for serving as officials and buzzer operators for our Governorās Cup competitions.
After individual testing our team faced Lewis County in a close and fun match but we fell behind in points in the last few minutes earning our first loss. We had a bye for the second round due to another team unfortunately having to forfeit due to not having enough players present. That break gave us plenty of time to go to Giovanniās and enjoy a delicious buffet! (You know we had to eat! š) After lunch we faced Harrison County. The match was close the first half but Harrison eventually pulled away giving us our second loss and ending our Quick Recall season.
Our team has had a great year. They represented themselves, their school and community well! Academic season is a long one, we start in September and our season ends with State competition in March. The endurance of these students to keep studying, practicing and competing is something to be commended.
Tonight Iād especially like to congratulate our Senior Lexi England! She has been an outstanding member of our team for 9 years and she will definitely be missed. But, Lexiās season isnāt over, she has advanced to state in 2 individual testing categories AND Written Composition (with a 1st place finish out of 17 competitors) šš¼
Iām just a super proud Coach tonight! Way to go RCS! Be proud of all that youāve accomplished this year. You continue to show that weāre a little school but we have BIG HEART!ā„ļø
