I will be typing the minutes from our meeting, and sharing those here in the next few days.
Just a quick recap of highlights to hold you over until then:
There were 14 adults present Friday evening.
We discussed how to best communicate and advertise the plans to restore the gym, so that anyone who wants to be involved has the opportunity to be.
We did take a vote on committee members and all people present agreed to placing the following people in position:
Chairperson - Heather (Nikki) Sumpter
Co-Chairperson - Casey Mitchell
Secretary - Autumn Turner
Treasurer - ??
We would still need one, possibly two members to serve as treasurer(s). We have a fundraising account for the restoration, so we need checks & balances to ensure everything is documented and handled correctly.
In order to ensure that we are taking all of the necessary steps, we will discuss the voting in of a committee at the board meeting and get approval for it as well.
Harley Flack informed us that there is a gentleman who is willing to donate six loads of rock up for bid, and the money raised off that will go straight to the fund. This must be approved by the board before moving forward.
We decided that we would plan to meet again after the February board meeting. We will post two dates on this page, and let everyone vote which date works best for them. Majority rules.
If you’re interested, the board meeting will be tomorrow February 20th at 6pm. Please come!
A few of us will be there to discuss some of the same things we talked about in the meeting including the fundraising idea that has to be board approved, as well as inquiring how we can secure the building as far as ownership goes. Before we start raising money or begin working towards restoration & repair, we want to be certain that the building will not be sold.
This is a team effort! Thanks to everyone for the support and enthusiasm to do something great for our community and our youth.
