5 Robertson County 4-H Livestock youth participated in the Kentucky 4-H State Livestock Judging Contest today.
These youth have worked hard over the past several months learning how to judge livestock and its many components.
Yesterday, they stopped for a visit at Claiborne Farm, judged a couple practice classes of sheep at the UK sheep unit, along with some over stops!
Overall, it was a great trip and we are very proud of these kids for competing today and trying something new! 🍀

Join us for an important evening of conversation, connection, and prevention at Chris Herren’s The First Day on June 23, 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Robertson County Extension Office.

During the event, attendees will view Chris Herren, former professional basketball player and nationally recognized wellness advocates documentary The First Day. It's a family friendly discussion about his substance use, journey, and his recovery.

Free pizza will be provided for all who attend!

This event is being held in response to our most recent Community Needs Assessment, where drug use and prevention ranked at the top across all program areas. Through education, awareness, and open conversations, we hope to support healthier families and stronger communities.

Special guest speakers include representatives from The Welcome House and Jamie Whaley, Harm Reduction Specialist with the Buffalo Trace District Health Department.

This is a free event for all community members including parents and children. We encourage families to attend together.

Yesterday, our 4-H horse club had their last meeting of the year! They were able to get a lesson on showmanship from Sue Hughes, make a horse shoe craft, and enjoy time together before school is officially out for summer! 🍀

Appreciation Post 🍀

Even though the weather did not cooperate with us today, we are so thankful to those who came out to support our 4-H Shooting Sports program!

-Thank you to those who came and shot (in the rain, so yall are the real MVP’s).
-Thank you to those who came and got food, purchased shirts/hats, or tickets.
-Thank you to Jordan Massey and Marsha Massey for frying the fish.
-Thank you to Bev Bowling for donating the buns.
-Thank you to the parents who brought desserts and not only supper their own children but all of the youth involved.

And most importantly, thank you so much to our shooting sports coaches! They have worked so hard on making this program the best possible opportunity for the youth in our county. They volunteer their time for not only the practices, but keeping the range maintained, planning for events, and so much more. I as an agent am very proud to have such dedicated volunteers.

If you were unable to make it out today, or would want to help support this program, we are always looking for sponsorships (see photo). Sponsorships allow us to provide the supplies to the youth at little to no cost for them. It also allows us to make range improvements that make it possible to have events like the fun shoot, and hopefully more in the future!
