The Officers and Members of the Mt Penn Fire Company offer our sincere condolences to the Family, as well as our Brothers and Sisters of the Central Berks Regional Police Department.
We are all devastated by the loss of our friend and colleague.

Today, our department mourns the heartbreaking loss of Officer Kristen Yeager, who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a call for service on May 29, 2026.

Officer Yeager served our community with courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication. She answered the call to protect and serve each day, placing the safety of others above her own. Her commitment to her badge, her fellow officers, and the citizens she served will never be forgotten.

We ask that you keep Officer Yeager’s family, friends, and our entire law enforcement family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Officer Yeager. Your watch has ended, but your legacy of service and sacrifice will live on forever. We got it from here.

On May 24th Mt. Penn & Muhlenberg fire companies were dispatched to the 2700 block Old Pricetown Rd in AlsaceTwp to assist PSP Reading for a vehicle in a pond, unknown if occupied. First arriving confirmed the report & had the dive team from Mt. Pleasant Fire dispatched as well. Divers located the vehicle & assisted the tow company with removal. Fortunately it was unoccupied. The incident was turned over to PSP & units cleared just before 10:00.

The Officers and Members of the Mt Penn Fire Company express our condolences to the family of our friend Kenny Houck, also to the Exeter Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Kenny has been a fixture for many decades, and we will miss him.
Especially his visits to the MPFD to talk about antique fire apparatus, and past notable fires.

Tonight, Members trained on specialized, efficient, rescue techniques used to extricate victims from elevated locations using the Stokes basket, and an extension ladder.
Continuing to hone the skills required to perform the functions of the Truck Company on the Fire Ground

This is just horrible 😞Our deepest condolences from the Mt Penn Fire Company.

This is just horrible 😞
Our deepest condolences from the Mt Penn Fire Company.

It is with deep sorrow that we share the tragic loss of Walnuttown Fire and Rescue Fire Chief Jeff Buck and Assistant Fire Chief Rob Shick, who lost their lives in the line of duty last night.

This is a devastating loss not only for Walnuttown, but also for the Community Fire Company of Virginville. We have stood side by side, training, responding, and serving our communities together, and this loss is felt deeply by all of us.

The members of both companies ask for your support, patience, and understanding as we navigate the overwhelming emotions brought on by this tragedy.

During this time, emergency coverage will be provided by neighboring departments to ensure continued protection for our communities.

The Community Fire Company of Virginville is asking that anyone, including local businesses, who would like to donate food or gift cards to help offset the cost of meals and refreshments for the covering stations, please reach out. You can send us a message or call/text 610-562-8389.

We thank you for your continued support, prayers, and compassion during this incredibly difficult time.

The Mt. Penn Volunteer Fire Department was proud to welcome Mike Ciampo, and Aaron Heller of On Scene Training Associates last night for their “Street Smart Laddering” seminar.

Members of the MPFD, along with members of the Birdsboro, Boyertown, Eastern Berks, Fleetwood, and Laureldale Fire Departments learned valuable, innovative, efficient “Think outside the box” techniques for performing the important duties of the Truck Company on the fire ground.
Thanks so much for sharing your expertise, and knowledge with us.
We look forward to utilizing the techniques we’ve learned out on the street.

A big THANK YOU to Mike Vogt, Reading Fire Equipment, and Morning Pride for sponsoring this informative, and enjoyable event.
