Work continues to go forward on our addition. The floor is poured, framing and roof on and closing in the walls has begun. Windows, siding and interior work will begin soon.

Shortly after 1 pm, company 1 was dispatched to assist the Lower Alsace Fire Company with a gas leak at 100 Antietam Rd. Rescue 1 and Ladder 1 made the response. It was found that crews working on a neighboring property had severed a natural gas line. School officials temporarily relocated students while UGI secured the leak. Members metered the school buildings to ensure no gas had entered and the students were allowed back in.

BACK TO SCHOOL!

It's already that time, summer flew by and the kids are back in school! Just a friendly reminder to pay extra attention while driving since there is now extra traffic and lots of extra pedestrians in the mornings and afternoons.

The roof is on, the wall is gone. Pouring the floor is set for later this week. Much progress has been made in the past week.

On August 10th at six p.m.Mount Penn was dispatched, along with several mutual aid companies to assist Exeter, with a reported structure fire on Gunpowder Ln. First arriving units found a working kitchen fire. One line was pulled for extinguishment, while other crews vented the heavy smoke. Units were able to begin clearing shortly before seven p.m.

On August 10th, just before 1:30p.m. Ladder 1, along with several other mutual aid companies, was dispatched to assist Amity with a reported structure fire on Indian Run Dr. First arriving had heavy fire showing & all hands quickly put to work. Crews assisted with searches, ventilation and fire extinguishment. Four lines were used to control this fire and units were able to begin clearing shortly after 3p.m. The exact cause remains under investigation

On August 8th shortly before midnight Mount Penn was dispatched as the RIT company to 8 Edgedale Ct in Wyomissing for a working structure fire. First arriving units had heavy fire showing on arrival and struck a second alarm. Several lines were used to control and extinguish this fire. Units began to be released around 1 a.m. The cause remains under investigation by the State Police Fire Marshall.

Lower Alsace Assist

On August 4th, just after six p.m. Mount Penn was dispatched to assist Lower Alsace with a vehicle on fire in the woods just off of List Rd. First, arriving units confirmed that report and found a male with injuries near the car. First aid was provided until EMS arrived while other crews extinguished the fire. Units were able to clear around 7p.m. This crash remains under investigation by Central Berks regional police.

Building update

Construction continues with the rest of the block wall installed. More steel next week as well as pouring the floors and the roof. Stay tuned!

Crash with entrapment

On July 25th just before 2:30p.m. Rescue 1 was dispatched to assist Lower Alsace(Co4) to the 100 block of Spook Lane for a vehicle on its roof with entrapment. First arriving confirmed the report with the victim in the process of self-extricating. Crews cleaned up debris and stood by until the tow company removed it while the victim was taken to the hospital by EMS. All units were able to clear shortly before 3:30p.m.
