Last night at 2139, Engine 1 was dispatched to assist in Muhlenburg Township for a working fire at the Oak Forest apartments. Engine 1 responded with a crew of 6. Crews assisted with searches, fire suppression, and overhaul. Engine 1 was released from the scene around 2 AM.

***ROAD CLOSURE***

The 2700 block of Filbert is currently closed. Crews are on scene of a tree and pole down on two vehicles.

For our weekly Tuesday night training, crews joined up with members of the Lower Alsace Fire Company. Crews from both companies drilled on drafting, flowing lines, and supplying master streams.

Today several members were honored to attend the services for CBRPD Officer Yeager who died in the line of duty May 29th. Officer Yeager made a difference to so many during her law enforcement career and she will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by so many.

You may have noticed some activity and large equipment around our station recently. This is due to our much anticipated station addition which will add 12ft to our two current 60ft apparatus bays. There will also be a small basement area for future use. Construction is anticipated to be done in early fall.

The Officers and Members of the Mt Penn Fire Company offer our sincere condolences to the Family, as well as our Brothers and Sisters of the Central Berks Regional Police Department.
We are all devastated by the loss of our friend and colleague.

Today, our department mourns the heartbreaking loss of Officer Kristen Yeager, who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a call for service on May 29, 2026.

Officer Yeager served our community with courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication. She answered the call to protect and serve each day, placing the safety of others above her own. Her commitment to her badge, her fellow officers, and the citizens she served will never be forgotten.

We ask that you keep Officer Yeager’s family, friends, and our entire law enforcement family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Officer Yeager. Your watch has ended, but your legacy of service and sacrifice will live on forever. We got it from here.

On May 24th Mt. Penn & Muhlenberg fire companies were dispatched to the 2700 block Old Pricetown Rd in AlsaceTwp to assist PSP Reading for a vehicle in a pond, unknown if occupied. First arriving confirmed the report & had the dive team from Mt. Pleasant Fire dispatched as well. Divers located the vehicle & assisted the tow company with removal. Fortunately it was unoccupied. The incident was turned over to PSP & units cleared just before 10:00.

The Officers and Members of the Mt Penn Fire Company express our condolences to the family of our friend Kenny Houck, also to the Exeter Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Kenny has been a fixture for many decades, and we will miss him.
Especially his visits to the MPFD to talk about antique fire apparatus, and past notable fires.
