Congratulations to 20 of our students who earned a PERFECT SCORE on the Civic Knowledge Assessment! 🎉👏

Our students take this assessment during the spring of their sophomore year, and the exam mirrors the U.S. naturalization/citizenship test, assessing knowledge of American government, history, and civics.

The Vikings take on Yough under the lights at Viking Stadium.

Important reminder for everyone attending: Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early to allow extra time for the district’s screening process for all attendees.

Staff Spotlight: Welcome Mrs. Gates 🍎

Join us in extending a warm welcome to our new Speech-Language Pathologist, Mrs. Allison Gates!

Mrs. Gates earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from Clarion University and brings three wonderful years of K–3 elementary experience to our team. She is so excited to start meeting her new students and collaborating with our teachers.

Outside of school, Mrs. Gates loves spending time outdoors—whether she is paddleboarding, working in her garden, or taking a walk with her King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Cesar. She and her husband, Josh, also have two cats, and she loves unwinding with a good National Park podcast. Welcome to the team, Mrs. Gates!

Staff Spotlight: Welcome Mrs. Yester! 🍎

We are thrilled to give a special home-district welcome to our new LS teacher at Norvelt Elementary, Mrs. Ally Yester! As a MP native and alum, Mrs. Yester is excited to be returning to the school where her own education began and wearing her Viking pride once again.

Entering her fifth year of teaching after four years with Insight PA Cyber Charter School, Mrs. Yester is most looking forward to being back in the classroom, connecting with her students and colleagues, and making new memories in the MP community.

Outside of school, she lives in Latrobe with her husband, Johnny, their two young daughters, Reese (2) and Parker (2 months), and their two dogs. When it is time to unwind, her ideal reset is spending time with her family. Welcome back to Norvelt, Mrs. Yester!

Join us in giving a warm Norvelt Elementary welcome to our new Learning Support teacher, Ms. Grace Steen!

Ms. Steen is a proud graduate of St. Vincent College, and we are thrilled to be at MP. Her primary goal this year is to build a welcoming, safe classroom environment where every student feels supported, valued, and ready to learn.

When she isn't at school, you can usually find Ms. Steen relaxing with her German Shepherd, sipping an iced coffee, or listening to her favorite country music. We are so excited to have her on our team—welcome to Norvelt, Ms. Steen!

Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Haley Stoup

We’re excited to welcome Mrs. Stoup to Ramsay Elementary as our new Learning Support teacher. A graduate of Hempfield Area HS and Seton Hill University, Haley is beginning her second year in the classroom after previously serving as a long-term substitute in Jeannette.

She’s excited to learn and grow alongside her students and be part of Ramsay’s new Special Education team. ❤️📚

Outside of school, Haley enjoys gardening, hunting, hiking, and working on her family’s hay farm in Kecksburg. She also loves spending time with her dog, Buck! 🐶🌿

🚒 Fun fact: Haley is a volunteer firefighter!
