Some feedback from CMU students on my lecture.
"I liked Bruce's lecture. I found the integration between the class topic of physiochemical removal and a real world application together interesting. Learning about how ferric chloride was the most common way to remove phosphorous was also quite interesting."
"I enjoyed Bruce's lecture. I really liked how he included things from his day-to-day life at his job. I also appreciated how he related everything back to things relevant to our class. I thought his explanation of how his plant uses ferric chloride was very interesting".
"I really enjoyed Bruce's lecture about his role as a WWTP manager and the use of ferric chloride in his plant. It was interesting to hear his point of view from another city plant after hearing about the mount pleasant ones as well. He brought a lot of relevant information and was very good at providing lots of examples of things we learn in class that are used in the treatment process he oversees. He was very engaging, and it was really great to hear from a professional in our field."
"I enjoyed Bruce's lecture on ferric chloride in wastewater treatment. It was interesting to learn about how what we know from class is used in real world situations. He was very informative on the topic and enthuastic about his career which made the lecture more enjoyabe. I liked how he engaged with the class as well."
"I thought the presentation from Bruce was super informative on the topic of Phosphate removal through the use of Ferric Chloride. We have been learning about the processes in wastewater treatment for a while now, so I thought it was very good to hear from somebody in the industry who deals with it on a daily basis. We look at things theoretically in class so to hear about the challenges that are faced was nice to hear about. It is also eye opening to see what other engineers designed for the facility and what to think of if I were to design a wastewater treatment plant. Overall, I really enjoyed Bruce's lecture!"
"I really enjoyed Bruce's lecture on Phosphate removal through the use of Ferric Chloride. I felt like this guest lecture brough us very relevant information about real experiences in the industry that many of us will go into. It helped connect things we have been learning in class, to real life situations in communities close/in our own state. I enjoyed asking questions about how his plant works, and why certain things are the way they are there. It was a really great experience."
"I thought Bruce was a good guest lecturer. He brought relevant knowledge of the coagulant ferric chloride, but also just knowledge of common benchmark data for phosphorus and other effluent/influent chemicals for the state of Michigan. It was cool to hear the processes of his plant, and he had great energy."
