For nearly 24 years, United Thru Play Park has been a place where Mount Pleasant children have climbed, explored, imagined, and made lasting memories. Since its construction in 2002, generations of families have enjoyed this beloved community playground.

As the playground has reached the end of its useful life, the City will begin removing the structure within the next month. While it is never easy to say goodbye to a place that holds so many memories, we are excited to share that a brand-new playground is planned for installation later this year.

If you have a commemorative brick or handprint that you would like to retrieve, please email Ashley Lohmann, Park & Recreation Assistant Director, at [email protected]. Include a photo of the item, its location within the park, and your contact information.

We look forward to creating a new space where future generations can play, explore, and make memories of their own.

👉 Did You Know?

The Edd King Memorial Fountain, located in the center of Mount Pleasant's Central Park, was dedicated in 1988 and has been a downtown landmark for nearly four decades.

The fountain serves as a focal point of the town square, providing a beautiful gathering place for residents and visitors to enjoy throughout the spring, summer, and fall months.

To keep the fountain looking its best, the water is regularly treated and maintained. While it may be tempting to cool off on a hot day, we ask that residents please stay out of the fountain. The fountain contains electrical equipment used to power the lighting system, and entering the water can create safety concerns and increase maintenance needs.

Thank you for helping us preserve one of downtown Mount Pleasant's most recognizable features for everyone to enjoy.
