The members of Norvelt VFD are proud to put in service two Sensit HXG-3 combustible gas leak detectors. These were funded by the Act 13 Unconventional Gas Well Fund Grant Program and supplied by the Firestore. We now have gas monitoring devices on all of our apparatus.

Over the past few weeks our rescue technicians have been training on various aspects of vehicle rescue with Rescue and Engine/Rescue 37. Some of the scenarios included lifting a vehicle for an underrun situation, strut stabilization, Darlington Roll, door removal, 3rd door conversion, dash lift & roll, and roof flap & removal. Drills like these help us learn new skills, refresh old skills, form a team bond, and ensure we’re ready to provide the best service possible to our community when the time comes. We would like to thank the owner of the car for donating it to us for training and if anyone has another car they would like to donate we would be grateful.

The members of the department would like to thank Robert Simanski for photographing our trucks and highlighting our Rescue. We built this truck to further our mission to protect the people we serve and come to their aid during the worst times of their lives. We continue to be thankful for all of the support from the community we serve.

Rescue and Engine Rescue 37 responded with a crew of 10 in the township today for a vehicle accident, one vehicle overturned in the creek with entrapment. Assistant 36 arrived on scene and confirmed entrapment. Rescue 36 arrived first and began extrication. Rescue 37 deployed rope to remove the patient from the creek bed via stokes basket. Crews from Engine Rescue 37 and Rescue 76 assisted with extrication and transporting the patient to the ambulance.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our annual Memorial Day service and parade. Special thanks to Mt. Pleasant Tower of Power Marching Band for performing and Kecksburg Volunteer Fire Department and Mutual Vfd for providing traffic control
