This morning, a CD3 station was delivered to Coldwater Lake Family Park! You will see it situated along the edge of the boat launch parking area ready to use for any boaters exiting the lake.
The CD3 Station was graciously provided by the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe who have been long-time supporters of the environmental goals of Isabella County Parks Commission. The station was procured through a grant from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative awarded to the SCIT environmental team, “Aki Naakdowendigik”, Aah-Key Nahk-doh-wehn-dih-gik, (Caretakers of the Land), who we are proud to collaborate with to improve the water quality of Coldwater Lake and the larger Saginaw Bay Watershed.
CD3 stands for Clean, Drain, Dry and Dispose. The CD3 station is a free, user-operated, waterless cleaning unit placed at public boat ramps to help stop the spread of aquatic invasive species.
Clean: Use the attached brushes and tools to scrub mud, plants, and aquatic animals or insects off the hull, trailer, and gear. Use the grabber or tongs for tight spaces.
Drain: Use the provided plug wrench to remove drain plugs and release trapped water from bilges or compartments.
Dry: Use the wet/dry vacuum to suck up standing water in live wells and the air blower to dry damp areas.
Dispose: Safely throw away any collected weeds, bait, or debris in the trash.
