The Village of Mount Prospect has been notified by Zastava Arms that the request to amend the Village Code regarding firearm-related businesses has been withdrawn.

The request was originally submitted in connection with the proposed relocation of Zastava Arms USA and Redstar Ordnance to Mount Prospect from Des Plaines. The business has advised the Village that, following review by the applicable regulatory agencies, the issues that prompted the request have been resolved and the proposed code amendments are no longer necessary.

As a result, no further consideration of the requested text amendment will occur. The businesses have informed the Village that they have completed their relocation and are operating from their approved location.

The Village appreciates the time and input provided by residents, stakeholders, and members of the community on this matter.

At the last Village Board meeting, Mayor Paul Hoefert proclaimed June 2026 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in Mount Prospect.

This month sheds light on the importance of equality for all and also serves as a joyful celebration of the LGBTQ+ community! The Village’s Pride Month proclamation reinforces the value that all community members feel safe, empowered, and supported by their peers and leaders in Mount Prospect.

Moreover, the Village reinforces its stance on denouncing prejudice and unfair discrimination based on age, gender identity, gender expression, race, color, religion, marital status, national origin, sexual orientation, or physical attributes.

6th Annual Mental Health Matters Event
🗓 Friday, June 5, 5-6:30 pm (Fridays on the Green following)
📍Busse Pocket Park across from Village Hall

It is not uncommon for members of the community to experience barriers such as not having health insurance, long waitlists, and a lack of knowledge on available resources to access mental health and substance use services.

So, the Human Services Department created this annual event to increase awareness on mental health topics, reduce stigma around seeking help, and provide opportunities for the community to meet local agencies all in one place!
