Mount Shasta Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Thank you to all who attended the Dine and Donate at Black Bear Diner! We had a very successful event.

With that in mind, we have room for a few more delivery meals. If you know someone who is homebound or needing a Thanksgiving Meal who has nowhere to go and is not receiving a meal or basket from other sources, please have them contact us by phone or by email, we will need a phone number and address for delivery, meals are delivered on Thanksgiving Day between the hours of 9:30am and 11am.

Dear Friends and Mount Shasta Community:

It’s that time of year when we are thinking about Thanksgiving and this year in particular, those who will not have a Thanksgiving Meal. This year our program is again setting up meal delivery to the homebound. As per the last few years we are again partnering with the Black Bear Diner to provide a full course delicious meal to those who have no other option and are not receiving a meal from other sources.

At this time we are raising funds to serve the homebound on Thanksgiving as Meals on Wheels does not operate on Thanksgiving Day. We are planning a fundraiser in conjunction with the Black Bear Diner’s Dine and Donate Program on Wednesday November 12th, please come join us, see separate posting with flyer.

If you cannot join us at the Black Bear Diner, here are three other ways to make a financial contribution:

By checks made out to MS THANKSGIVING MEAL which can be dropped off at Mechanics Bank (in the Ray's Shopping Center in Mt. Shasta) and they will automatically be placed in that specific checking account. If we exceed our initial plan, we can open up delivery to more people in need. We plan to write one check and any remaining funds will be rolled over to next year.

We all wish we could provide a Thanksgiving Meal at the Park, we all love coming together as community. To do this next year we need to find key players to assume leadership positions as chef and kitchen manager, front house and delivery managers, shoppers and produce manager. If you are interested in filling these key roles, please contact us directly.

And again, thanks, we look forward to serving the homebound and shut ins this Thanksgiving Day. We have reached out to our previous delivery drivers and if we need more help, we will let you know.

Dear Friends and Mount Shasta Community:

This year a Thanksgiving Meal will be delivered to recipients of the Meals On Wheels Program and to the homebound on Thanksgiving Day. We’re sorry there will be no public meal at the Park but we are looking forward to accomplishing this next year, see below.

At this time we need to raise funds to serve the homebound on Thanksgiving as Meals on Wheels does not operate on Thanksgiving Day. Meals are purchased from the Black Bear Diner who offer us a substantial discount for a beautiful full course meal that will be delivered early Thanksgiving morning to recipients.

There are three ways to make a financial contribution:

Thank you to everyone for your support, all who donated to make this delivery happen, our delivery drivers who take part of their Thanksgiving day to deliver meals to the home bound, to Sherri and the Black Bear Diner for preparing these beautiful meals, and to Patricia, Dawn and Jane for their dedication to bring this project to fruition.

Friends and Followers of this Page: The Thanksgiving Meal will be delivered to recipients of the Meals On Wheels Program who request delivery on Thanksgiving Day, all recipients have been notified of this Plan and we have received a good response so far. Meals will be delivered between 10 and 11 am on Thanksgiving Day and recipients must be home to receive the meal. We may have enough delivery drivers at this time but if more are needed we will make a request.

At this time we are asking for your monetary support to move forward. Meals are purchased from the Black Bear Diner who offers us a substantial discount; having them prepared by a licensed food service keeps the team from having to find a licensed kitchen, a licensed food service chef, staff and volunteers to purchase and prepare a meal, a challenge for any future community meal.
