As youth camps start to gear up for the summer, in collaboration with KY Emergency Management, Montgomery County Emergency Management and the Montgomery County Fiscal Court, weather radios were given to Rolling Hills Bible Camp and Camp McKee. This is an effort to equip camp administrators with the tools needed to get advanced warning of an impending inclement weather event. This is in response to the Camp Mistic tragedy in 2023 where 27 young ladies lost their lives due to flash flooding. "We want to do everything possible to protect our youth and the staff at camps throughout the summer."

Pastor Dan Murphy accepted the radio at Rolling Hills Church and Ranger Kenneth Green accepted Camp McKee's weather radio.

There are a lot of public events coming up this month.

1) 2026 paint collection days June 1-June 12. 7:00 am - 3:00 pm each day. Take your paint to Mt. Sterling Public Works for free disposal.

2) Tenco’s Career Expo June 9th from 10-00 am - 1 pm at the Clay Center.

3) New Song’s Camp Brave Hearts June 15th-19th for 4,5and 6 year olds. And June 22nd - June 26th for 7,8 and 9 year olds. Scan the QR code below for details or call New Song Counseling at 8594970594 for more details.

4) Waste Tire Collection Event will be held on June 18th, 19th and 20th. Thursday and Friday 9:00 am -3:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 amt -12:00 pm. At the State Highway garage located at 117 Adena Dr in the Midland Trail Industrial Park.

It has been an amazing two weeks. First, Daughters of the American Revolution held the Liberty Tree dedication at Botts park.

Next, Run for the Wall, where hundreds of motorcycles came into Montgomery County on their way to Washington D.C. for Memorial Day.

Then we had a sober Memorial Day ceremony held by American Legion post 22 at the courthouse.

Please don’t forget if you have an American flag that is worn or torn and needs to be retired to give them the proper respect that they deserve. There are bins at the American Legion Post and the courthouse annex.

All of this is leading up to a once in a lifetime event on the 4th of July, America’s 250th birthday.

I am extremely proud and thankful to God to be a citizen of the greatest country in the history of mankind.

If you have a worn or torn American flag that needs to be properly retired as Memorial Day approaches, remember the two boxes pictured below. One is located in the lobby of the Courthouse Annex and the other is located behind the American Legion post. We will work with American Legion Post 22 and Boy Scout Troop 53 to give them the proper respect that they deserve.
