๐Ÿšจ Motor Vehicle Accident โ€“ Hill Valley Road ๐Ÿšจ

On Saturday, August 29th, at approximately 3:30 AM, crews were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident on Hill Valley Road near the S-turn, in the 7-12 box. Initial dispatch information was limited.

Special Unit 7 arrived on scene and located a large debris field and a vehicle that had reportedly rolled approximately 6โ€“8 times before coming to rest nearly a half-mile from the initial point of impact.

Upon arrival of the first-in crew, it was determined that the driver had self-extricated from the vehicle. One patient was evaluated and transported for non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the initial investigation and assessment of the scene, Lieutenant 7-1 determined that Hill Valley Road needed to be closed due to the extensive debris field and to ensure the safety of emergency personnel working on the roadway. Squad 12 was requested to assist with securing the opposite end of the roadway and to provide additional manpower for debris removal and scene cleanup.

Crews remained on scene until approximately 5:00 AM, when Lieutenant 7-1 placed the box back in service.

Mount Union Fire Department was assisted by:
Three Springs Fire Department
Pennsylvania State Police โ€“ Huntingdon
Mount Union EMS
Rich Parks Towing

We would like to remind everyone to slow down and use caution around emergency scenes. Please give responders plenty of room to work and obey all road closures and traffic control.

Thank you to all of the agencies who assisted, and to our crews who worked through the early morning hours to make the roadway safe.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’ A PROUD MOMENT AT MUFD!

This Saturday at noon, Gavin officially received his new gear after completing his essentials with a live burn training as well engine company operations.

Making the moment even more special, Gavinโ€™s dad had the honor of presenting his gear to him. Thereโ€™s something pretty special about seeing the next generation step up and become part of the fire service.

Congratulations, Gavin! Weโ€™re proud to have you as part of the MUFD family and canโ€™t wait to see where this journey takes you!

Incident Response โ€” Motor Vehicle Crash

Today at approximately 11:00 AM, Company 7/700 was dispatched to assist Company 9 with a motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, crews found a tractor-trailer carrying grain that had overturned and come to rest off the roadway. The driver had self-extricated from the vehicle and was ambulatory when crews arrived.

After conducting an initial assessment and evaluating the scene, crews determined that there were no immediate rescue or extrication needs. For the safety of responders and the public, the roadway was closed while crews operated on scene.

Squad 12 subsequently arrived, at which time Lieutenant 7-1 transferred command to Chief 12. After a scene assessment and operational plan were established, crews began clearing debris from the roadway and surrounding area.

Crews also addressed a small fire involving a tree, once Valley Rural Electric Cooperative disconnected power and the area was confirmed safe for firefighters to operate.

We would like to thank all of the agencies and organizations that assisted on scene:

Valley Rural Electric Cooperative
Pennsylvania State Police โ€” Huntingdon
Huntingdon County Sheriff's Office
Runks Towing & Recovery โ€” Marklesburg

We appreciate everyone's cooperation while the roadway was closed and crews worked to make the scene safe.

No further information is available at this time.
