United Medical Response would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and the Woodlawn Fire Department for the opportunity to participate in the Active Shooter training exercise held at Woodlawn Grade School.

Training opportunities like this are critical in ensuring that first responders are prepared to work together effectively during high-stress, time-sensitive emergencies. Realistic, multi-agency exercises strengthen communication, coordination, and operational readiness—allowing all responding agencies to function as a unified team when it matters most.

Preparedness and teamwork are the foundation of a successful response in critical incidents. We are grateful for the collaboration and dedication shown by all agencies involved in helping keep our communities safe.

Majority of the rural areas in southern Illinois are covered by volunteer departments. Through pre-planned mutual aid and close multi-department relationships these departments (along with area professional departments) provide amazing coverage and resources to many communities that would not have this level of fire and medical services if it were not for the many volunteers that make up these amazing departments.
