MOUNT VERNON POLICE ARREST WOMAN FOLLOWING VEHICLE THEFT INVOLVING CHILD

MOUNT VERNON, NY — The Mount Vernon Police Department arrested Tiauna Crump, 52, of Mount Vernon, following an incident involving the alleged unlawful taking of a vehicle with a one-year-old female child inside.
At approximately 10:45 a.m., Crump allegedly took possession of a vehicle without authorization while the child was inside. The incident occurred in the area of Birch Street and Westchester Avenue.
The vehicle was subsequently located in the vicinity of Mount Vernon Police Headquarters, where Crump was taken into custody. The child was safely recovered and was not injured during the incident.
Crump was charged with:
Kidnapping in the Second Degree
Grand Larceny in the Third Degree
Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree
Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree
Endangering the Welfare of a Child
Crump was arraigned today in Mount Vernon City Court in connection with the charges.
