YMCA Oasis

YMCA Oasis YMCA Oasis strives to provide youth and their families with a safe, supportive, and confidential resource to help them better their lives.

YMCA Oasis provides overnight shelter to youth ages 13-17 at our facility in Mount Vernon, WA. Oasis is a program of the Skagit Valley Family YMCA’s Social Impact division. Since 1997, YMCA Oasis has worked with youth from Skagit County and the surrounding region to dismantle the barriers they face to stable, permanent housing. Each young person is met with intensive case management in addition to the basic necessities of shelter, food, clothing, and connection to other services.

Throughout the entire month of August, we’re running a back-to-school gift card drive to support Oasis. Gift cards help with Oasis operating supplies (ex. buying groceries) and are great rewards for youth staying at Oasis who exhibit positive behavior.

Walmart, Safeway, Amazon, and Costco gift cards are most needed, but gift cards from local businesses like Tri Dee Arts, Riverside Lanes, and Lang’s Horse and Pony Farm (among others) are also welcomed! Gift cards can be dropped off with our Welcome Center team at 1901 Hoag Road.

It is a courageous act to live your life authentically, a decision which trans and nonbinary people face daily. This , we are holding space for the grief of lives lost too soon. We are holding space for the glaring disproportionality of trans young people experiencing homelessness and death, particularly Black and Brown femmes.

So many trans folks are given their flowers after they pass. Trans kids and adults deserve bouquets full of love and acceptance today, tomorrow and every day.

If you or anyone you know is struggling, please know that you are loved, you are worthy, and you are safe at Oasis. We also have a beautiful resource right here in our community through PFLAG Skagit for LGBTQ+ folks and their families. Learn more at https://www.pflagskagit.org/.

Oasis was selected as Dwayne Lane's Skagit Subaru's recipient of the 2021 Share the Love® event, which took place between November 18, 2021 and January 3, 2022. A total of $17,400 was raised in support of Oasis and its services!

A big thank you to Dwayne Lane's Skagit Subaru and to all who supported Oasis after purchasing a Subaru locally! The funds will go towards helping Oasis continue to serve youth in Skagit County who utilize Oasis's Daylight Center or Teen Center.
