On International Overdose Awareness Day (August 31), we recognize the lasting impact overdose leaves on families and communities across Missouri and beyond.

For 25 years, this day has brought people together to raise awareness, reduce risk, share prevention methods, and support efforts that save lives. Together, we can build a future where fewer lives are lost and there are more opportunities for recovery. https://www.overdoseday.com/

The Lawrence County Health Department offers free naloxone (Narcan) to anyone who wants it. No ID required. No questions asked. Carrying naloxone could help save someone's life.

Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

We love our furry friends, and National Dog Day is the perfect time to celebrate them while also remembering how important it is to practice safe interactions with dogs.

So far this year, the Lawrence County Health Department has received reports of 74 animal bites — 51 of those involving dogs. Many dog bites can be prevented by knowing how to safely approach, interact with, and give dogs the space they need.

Take a look at our dog safety tips to help keep both people and pets safe!

And now for the fun part… let's see your dogs! 📸🐾 Drop a photo of your furry friend in the comments! We’d love to see them! ❤️

A substance use disorder can affect anyone. Barriers can make it harder for people to prevent, treat, or recover from substance use. Making resources and services more available can help more Missourians get the care they need to start recovery.

This August, help us create a space where seeking help is encouraged, support is accessible, and recovery is possible.

The Lawrence County Health Department offers free naloxone (Narcan) to anyone who wants it. No ID required. No questions asked. Carrying naloxone could help save someone's life.
