The monthly Chamber membership meeting was held today at Limestone Grille. Our speaker was Erika Bartley with Somerset Mental Health. They have an office here in Mt. Vernon, Somerset and have a dedicated office space at the RC High School. They are very committed to helping students, counseling families and adults.

The 64th Farmer and Business Banquet was held Thursday, April 16th. The Conservation District and Mt. Vernon/Rockcastle Chamber of Commerce both recognized outstanding individuals and businesses in our county. The Chamber gave out two "Business of the Year" awards. One to Rockcastle County Schools presented to Superintendent Dr. Carrie Ballinger and the second award went to Mt. Vernon Rockcastle Tourism Commission. The plaque was presented to Chairman Neal Sluder. A special recognition was made to past Mayor of Mt. Vernon, Michael Bryant. A plaque honored his commitment to the city, the Chamber of Commerce and his establishment of the Chamber office building. The Conservation District was the host of the event this year and the speaker was Miss Kentucky. Both organizations appreciate the door prize donations made by so many.

The March membership meeting was held yesterday at Marcella's Farm to Fork restaurant. Molly Eaton of Young Professional of Rockcastle, Lincoln and Garrard Counties introduced this new organization that is interested in community service. Simon Mortimer, representative for Global Life also spoke. Tickets for the Farmer/Business Banquet are available for sale.

Debra White Brown spoke to Chamber members Feb 17th at Limestone Grille. Debra spoke about the importance of Saving our county history that starts with our pioneer history. The Historical Society has a donated building on Church Street that some day will be a museum. It requires a major remodel since it was built in 1895 and has been vacant for many years. Debra has a goal to build HIstorical Society membership to 600 members and she is applying for grants. If you are interested in joining, contact Debra or call Lynn Tatum at Chamber office. Membership fee for one year is $25.00.

Today’s Membership Meeting was very informative where Senator Brandon Storm and Representative Josh Bray provided updates and outlooks for the upcoming legislative session. We also heard about several new business ventures in Rockcastle County from new members!

Please join us for our next Membership Meeting on Tuesday, November 11 at 12:00pm at Marcella's Farm to Fork. Our guest speakers will be Senator Brandon J. Storm - Kentucky, 21st District and Josh Bray Kentucky State Representative to provide a legislative update for the upcoming session. Lunch will be available for purchase.

Speakers, Howell Holbrook, Rockcastle County Judge Exec and Kent Wharten, Volunteer for Red Cross, gave information and updates to Chamber members October 21st. The meeting was held at Limestone Grille.

The Chamber sponsored the September 10th Grand Opening of Art Alley. The first art exhibit displayed were the paintings of Janice Harding Owens. Shannen Eckert, student at Rockcastle High School, completed a mural that depicts our pioneer and musical history. This is a City of Mt
Project with partnerships with the Rockcastle Board of Education and Rockcastle Development Board.
