August 18th the Chamber membership meeting was held at Limestone Grille. Our guest speakers were Dr. Carrie Ballinger, School Superindent and County Judge Exec Howell Holbrook. There are two sports complexes in the planning stage for our youth. First, the high school will begin this Fall, a sports complex building and athletic fields will follow. The goal is to offer Rockcastle athletes the tools they need so they do not have to travel to other counties. County Judge Holbrook spoke about the the 30 acre sports complex. The land has been purchased; however they are in the planning stage. The complex will have an ADA playground, and sports fields.

The Rockcastle Chamber of Commerce partnered with the City of Mt. Vernon to hold a ribbon cutting to welcome Back to Basics, a chiropractic office, to our community. They are located at 111 Progress Drive.

The monthly Chamber membership meeting was held today at Limestone Grille. Our speaker was Erika Bartley with Somerset Mental Health. They have an office here in Mt. Vernon, Somerset and have a dedicated office space at the RC High School. They are very committed to helping students, counseling families and adults.

The 64th Farmer and Business Banquet was held Thursday, April 16th. The Conservation District and Mt. Vernon/Rockcastle Chamber of Commerce both recognized outstanding individuals and businesses in our county. The Chamber gave out two "Business of the Year" awards. One to Rockcastle County Schools presented to Superintendent Dr. Carrie Ballinger and the second award went to Mt. Vernon Rockcastle Tourism Commission. The plaque was presented to Chairman Neal Sluder. A special recognition was made to past Mayor of Mt. Vernon, Michael Bryant. A plaque honored his commitment to the city, the Chamber of Commerce and his establishment of the Chamber office building. The Conservation District was the host of the event this year and the speaker was Miss Kentucky. Both organizations appreciate the door prize donations made by so many.
