🔤🎉 A-Z Countdown Fun in K-1!
As we counted down the final days of the school year, our kindergarten and first grade students had a blast with our A-Z Countdown to Summer!

From creating beautiful butterflies 🦋 and wearing their favorite hats 🎩 to exploring with Play-Doh 🎨 and conducting exciting experiments 🔬, each day brought new opportunities for learning and fun. Our students also took time to practice gratitude by writing thoughtful thank-you notes ❤️✏️ to the special people who have helped them throughout the year.

These memorable activities filled our classrooms with smiles, creativity, curiosity, and kindness as we celebrated an incredible school year together. 🦅

Eagles’ Nest: Learning, Growing, and Connecting After School! 🦅

Our Eagles’ Nest after-school program, proudly funded by United Way of Knox County Ohio, continues to provide incredible opportunities for our students through meaningful community partnerships and dedicated staff support.

We are grateful for the organizations that help make Eagles’ Nest such a special experience, including Mount Vernon Nazarene University, The Ohio State University Extension Office, Kenyon College and the Brown Family Environmental Center, Kokosing Valley Tennis Association, and the YMCA. These partnerships provide our students with enriching experiences, hands-on learning opportunities, healthy activities, and connections that extend far beyond the classroom.

A special thank you also goes to our outstanding educators Mrs. Melton, Mrs. Firebaugh, Mrs. Moore, and Ms. Frackman, who dedicate their time to providing homework assistance, academic support, and skill remediation to help every student succeed.

Together, our staff and community partners are helping East Eagles build confidence, strengthen skills, and discover new interests each day.

Thank you to the United Way and all of our partners for investing in our students and helping them shine bright and soar high!

East Families,
I am incredibly excited to welcome Mr. Clinedinst as your incoming principal! He is a phenomenal leader who shares our deep commitment to kindness and excellence, and I know he is going to love this school family just as much as I do.

If you would like to meet him, we will be on the East lawn this summer for our "Reading Across America" summer program to celebrate America's 250th birthday. Your children, Mr. Clinedinst, and I are going to go on some spectacular reading adventures together over the vacation, and we cannot wait to see you all at our 5 meetups. Join us June 3rd, June 10th, June 17th, June 24th, and July 1st at 1:00pm!

Arriving to East Elementary on their last day of school are our retiring teachers, Mrs. Toni Williams and Mr. Steve Tier. After years of inspiring minds, shaping futures, and making a lasting impact on countless students, today we celebrate the retirement of these two incredible educators.

They are accompanied by Principal, Mrs. Watterson. For nine wonderful years, Mrs. Watterson’s leadership, kindness, and dedication have inspired students, staff, and families throughout our elementary school community. Mrs. Watterson will be the New Director of Curriculum for Mount Vernon City Schools.

Our third graders stepped back in time during their visit to Historic Roscoe Village! Students explored what life was like in the 1800s through hands-on activities, historical demonstrations, and interactive experiences throughout the village. From learning about Ohio’s canal history to visiting shops and meeting historical interpreters, our students had an unforgettable day of learning beyond the classroom! 🦅
