Hey there, folks!
I just thought I would post this as a PSA.
The county surveyor does not perform surveys, establish property lines, or settle disputes for private property owners. The County Surveyor office is there to maintain records of section corners, perpetuate and establish section corners, records of properties that directly relate to government interests, act as a resource for repairing regulated drains, and to manage the nearly 100 Miles of regulated drains in Posey County.
I do have a list of licensed surveyors available for those who need to have property surveyed (the same list you can get from a web search) and I am happy to send it to those who are looking for that service.
I have been getting quite a few calls by individuals who want me to perform a survey for them and I can sense the frustration when I am unable to respond to all those calls in a timely manner. If it were a call about a county regulated drain that was in need of repair, I would be able to help. But I do not perform surveys.
I have zero staff and no secretary. And since the majority of my job requires me to be out and about in the county, I am seldom in the office. So I apologize for any misconceptions that may have arisen about services my office is purported to offer.
Thank you.
Adam Bigge
Posey County Surveyor.
