🎉 Happy 11 Years, Dispatcher J Monroe! 🎉

For 11 incredible years, J. Monroe has been the steady voice on the other end of the line here at Knox County 911. When our community needs help most, she's the calm in the chaos and she's done it all with a smile. Beyond answering the call, J has poured into her coworkers as a trainer, shaping the next generation of dispatchers with patience, knowledge, and that signature positive attitude we all know and love. When she's not on the radio, you'll find her enjoying time on the farm. Let's not forget the Sundays... 🥞 Janet treats us to a homemade breakfast that fuels our whole team for the week ahead. That's just who she is, someone who shows up for others, whether it's a tough call, a new hire learning the ropes, or a plate of pancakes on a Sunday morning.

Thank you, J. Monroe, for 11 years of heart, dedication, and breakfast. We're lucky to have you! 💙

Knox County 911 team joined the Central Ohio Joint Fire District's open house to talk with the community about how 911 works and, of course, the star of the show was Sparky the Fire Dog!

It was a great chance to connect with neighbors, answer questions about emergency calls, and help everyone feel more prepared when it matters most. Whether you've never called 911 or just wanted a refresher, we loved talking with you!

A huge thank you to the Central Ohio Joint Fire District for hosting us and to everyone who stopped by. We'll see you at the next one! 💙

This is something you never want to see in a dispatch center.

All phones, radios, and computers were down after a power surge today. Thanks to the quick work of Knox County IT, our phones were back up and from there, we dispatched old school: portable radios, a pen, and a pad of paper until everything was up and running again.

We also want to give a big shout out to Morrow County Sheriffs Office, Mt. Gilead Ohio for covering our calls while our system was down.

When we got a call about a kitten stuck in the drain we knew who to call Maeve’s House !! Maeve’s house is an animal rescue local to Knox County ran by Callie Pillow and with the help from the city they were able to rescue the kitten.

Maeve’s house and other animal rescues can’t be responsible for all stray animals so this can serve as a reminder to get your pets spayed and neutered!!

We've taken 336 calls this year about scams and fraud and that's just the ones people reported.

Scammers rely on silence. The less we talk about their tricks, the easier their job is. That's why the single most effective way to prevent scams is spreading information.

The best thing you can do? Talk to the older and more vulnerable people in your life.

A quick conversation about common scams, like the fake "grandchild in trouble" call, the IRS imposter, the missed jury duty warrant, can be what stops someone from losing their savings. Share what you know. Ask them what they've seen. Make it a normal conversation, not a lecture.

Everyone meet Judy!! Judy had a tree fall on her vehicle during the windstorm on March 13 2026 and it was chaos. The wind storm had our 911 lines flooding with calls, but Dispatcher J. Sheriff never let that mean that Judy received less attention. When a tree came down on her truck, J. sheriff stayed on the line the entire time, 14 minutes, keeping her calm until help could reach her. Judy came back to meet the team that helped her that day, and we're so glad she did. This is what staying calm under pressure looks like.
