Friends, we'd like to take a moment to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month which is an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness about mental health, reducing stigma, and promoting access to support and treatment. It highlights the importance of emotional, psychological, and social well-being affecting how people think, feel, and act in daily life.

If you or someone you know is dealing with issues please reach out, talk and let's break the Stigma!

Stay Safe Friends.

You may have seen us at Hedges Central today doing Hose Testing!

Fire departments perform hose testing to make sure fire hose is safe, reliable, and ready to operate under the high pressures used during emergencies. Fire hose goes through a lot of wear from being dragged across pavement, exposed to heat, chemicals, sunlight, sharp edges, and repeated use. Even when damage is not visible, the inner liner or jacket can weaken over time. Testing helps identify leaks, soft spots, coupling issues, or structural weaknesses before the hose is needed at a fire scene.

We also would like to add, if you see hose laying on the ground, not just our department but any Fire Department please DO NOT drive over hoses! This not only will damage your vehicle but will put people's lives at risk if we loose water...

Till next time,
Stay Safe Friends!

Spotlight on Chief Wilson!

Chief Wilson is a strong example of being visible in the community and investing time in teaching young people.

That kind of leadership goes beyond emergency responses and it builds trust, inspires future public servants, and strengthens the entire community. By doing simple things like reading with the next generation, he’s not only shaping safer habits today but also helping develop citizens of tomorrow!

Early calls. Late nights. A community depending on every decision… and a book waiting in the quiet between alarms. 🚒📖

A fire chief wears many hats… leader, neighbor, protector. Between calls and community moments, reading offers a chance to reset, reflect, and stay sharp for whatever comes next. Because even in a life built on action, there’s power in a pause.

Where does reading fit into your day?

Happy National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week!

This week, we want to give a huge shoutout to our friends at the Posey County 911 Dispatch Center!

You are the FIRST of the first responders, the calm voice on the other end of the line when everything feels like it's falling apart. Day or night, weekends or holidays, you show up and you answer. Every. Single. Call.

While others sleep, you listen. While others panic, you guide. You are the invisible thread that connects people in crisis to the help they desperately need and too often, you go unrecognized for it.

To every dispatcher, call-taker, and supervisor at Posey County 911 — THANK YOU.
Your dedication, your composure, and your compassion save lives every single day.

We see you. We honor you. We are SO grateful for you.
