To all our Surrounding Departments, Posey Dispatch, Police Agencies, friends, neighbors, and community members who sent condolences, covered calls, and paid their respects, Thank you!

And we would like for everyone to especially keeps the Waters Family in their thoughts at this time and come together as a Community for them at this time...

Friends we don't brag much except when it comes to Competition and the Competition was stiff! But we would like to introduce ourselves as the "2X Fire Truck Pull Champions!" 😁

But in all honesty we would Graciously like to thank everyone that came out today and supported the Special Olympics Indiana - Posey County! All the Sponsors, Staff, Volunteers & Athletes. It's truly an honor to help support such amazing people!

On the Eve of 9/11 Twenty-five years later, We have not forgotten. Not in our minds, and not in our hearts.

We remember the 343 who ran toward danger and never came home. We remember every first responder, every service member, and every innocent life lost that day. We remember how this country came together, and how the fire service became one family. And without being Political, with the turmoil that surrounds our County at this time, We need that again more than ever...

Tomorrow, we will stand watch over our City here in Mt. Vernon with that same promise in our hearts: "We will never forget." We will always honor the sacrifice by doing the job they loved, serving others above ourselves.

God bless our fallen, their families, and all who continue to serve...

The Mt. Vernon Fire Department is saddened to announce the passing of Former Fire Chief Roger Waters.

Chief Waters dedicated his life to serving the citizens of Mt. Vernon and the members of this department. His leadership, mentorship, and commitment to our community will never be forgotten.

We ask that you keep Chief Waters' family, friends, and all who has served alongside him in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Funeral / service arrangements will be shared at a later date.

Rest easy, Chief. We'll take it from here...
