🎓 CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2026 MOUNT VERNON YOUTH POLICE ACADEMY GRADUATING CLASS! 👏🏾🚔

The 2026 class was truly one for the ages! Over the course of two weeks, these outstanding young men and women dedicated their time to learning about law enforcement, community service, leadership, and—most importantly—valuable life lessons they can carry with them into the new school year.

Our cadets participated in hands-on learning experiences covering CPR, the dangers of human trafficking, healthy lifestyle choices, policing, making positive decisions, and so much more.

We are incredibly proud of every cadet for their commitment, dedication, and willingness to learn. Each graduate was recognized with certificates from the Mayor’s Office, Mount Vernon City Council, American Red Cross, and Mount Vernon Police Department.

To our cadets: continue to strive for excellence, make positive choices, and be leaders in your community! 🌟

And to the parents, thank you for trusting us with your children and allowing them the opportunity to experience and learn more about a career in law enforcement and the importance of serving their community.

What an incredible evening in Downtown Mount Vernon! The Steps of City Hall came alive with the vibrant sounds, movement, and traditions of Afro-Brazilian culture as we welcomed The Samba Group and Axé Brasil for an unforgettable night of live music and dance.

Families, friends, and community members gathered to enjoy the energy of the music, experience a taste of Brazilian culture, and celebrate the arts right here in the heart of our city. ❤️💚💛

👩🏽‍🍳✨ Cooking Up Confidence!

The Mount Vernon Youth Bureau, in partnership with the Mount Vernon Recreation Department, proudly wrapped up another successful summer of the Culinary Explorers Academy — a hands-on program designed to introduce high school students to the art of cooking, nutrition, and culinary creativity.

Throughout the summer, our young chefs explored new recipes, learned essential cooking techniques, discovered the importance of healthy eating, and strengthened their teamwork and confidence in the kitchen. 🍳🥗👨🏽‍🍳

A huge thank you to the dedicated staff of the Mount Vernon Recreation Department for your continued support and commitment to creating meaningful experiences and opportunities for our youth. Together, we’re helping the next generation build skills that extend far beyond the kitchen! 💙

🌟 Youth Bureau Intern Spotlight! 🌟

Today, we’re proud to continue our Mount Vernon Youth Bureau Spotlight Campaign, celebrating the hard work, dedication, and growth of interns making a difference throughout City Hall and across the City of Mount Vernon.

Our latest spotlight shines on Sky Stone, a dedicated intern working with the Human Resources Department. Through this summer internship, Sky has gained valuable hands-on experience, developed new professional skills, and learned more about the important role Human Resources plays in supporting our city workforce.

Take a moment to hear Sky’s story and learn how this opportunity has contributed to their personal and professional growth. We’re proud to celebrate Sky and all of our incredible youth interns who are gaining experience, building confidence, and preparing for their futures! 💙
