We are hiring!

Cole Public Library and Cornell College are seeking a part-time Public Library Assistant to support the operations of the first-floor circulation desk. This role plays a key part in delivering excellent service to our patrons and assisting with library programs and services.

Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
We are open to hiring either one individual to work daily or two individuals to share the schedule (2–3 days per week each).

Key Responsibilities:
Provide front-line support at the first-floor circulation desk.
Collaborate closely with the Public Library Director and Circulation Supervisor to ensure smooth daily operations and a welcoming environment for all visitors.

Cole Public Library is half of a unique collaboration with the Cornell College Library. Together, the public and academic libraries make up the Russell D. Cole Library. In service to the Mount Vernon Community, it is the mission of the Cole Public Library to foster and support citizens’ exploration of ideas, use of information, and opportunities for reading, viewing, and listening.

We loved hosting Rooted3.19 at the library last Saturday! It was a gorgeous program enjoyed by all.

Cole Library will be closed this Friday and Saturday in honor of Independence Day. Celebrate the United State's 250th birthday with a book on our nation's history. We'll have a display by our 1st floor circulation desk for month of July filled with lots of great titles.

Snow cones, face painting, bubbles, and signing up for the Summer Reading Program going on now until 2:00 at Cole Public Library!

Our May newsletter is out detailing all the events and activities going on at the public library this month.

We have also opened up registration for two Summer Reading activities: Wednesday Workshops (every Wednesday, June-July) and Space Explorers (July 27). Visit our website for more details on these programs. To register, email [email protected].

Due to impending severe storms, Cole Public Library is canceling Lego Club and Yarn Squad. If MVSCD lets out early or cancels evening activities, the library does not hold our after-school and evening programs.

Planning your summer garden or planting spring vegetables? Cole Public Library's Seed Share Library is stocked and ready for gardeners of all experience levels. Our Seed Share Library is run my the Linn County Master Gardeners and has a wide range of vegetables and flowers.
