KADF Provides Opportunities for Communities:

The Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund (KADF) provides unique opportunities for communities—and the Farmers Market Multi-Purpose Facility in Rockcastle County is a tremendous example of what can happen when KADF provides the catalyst for a community to come together around a shared vision.

Funded in 2019 by the KADF Program with support approved through the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and Kentucky Office of Agricultural Policy. The project was strengthened by a USDA grant, matching funds, and land provided by the Rockcastle County Industrial Development Authority (RCIDA). Additional matching funds were provided by Rockcastle County Fiscal Court, the City of Mount Vernon, Kentucky, and private sponsors, including the Kentucky Farm Bureau-Rockcastle County and many others.

This was truly a community partnership. Each investment helped leverage the next, transforming a shared vision into a permanent, highly visible, and heavily utilized community facility.

Today, the Farmers Market Multi-Purpose Facility has become one of the most successful community facilities in Rockcastle County. It provides a permanent home for County Farmers Market Cooperative while serving residents, families, farmers, businesses, organizations, and communities throughout the region.

Thank you to KADF for being the catalyst that created the opportunity for this collective collaboration—and to USDA and all of the local public and private partners who helped turn that opportunity into reality.

This project demonstrates what can happen when a community is given an opportunity, partners come together, resources are leveraged, and everyone works toward a common goal.

That is the power of KADF: creating opportunities that allow communities to invest, collaborate, and build something that lasts for generations.

Thank you to staff at The Center for Rural Development and ARC. We are grateful for this grant for geotechnical exploration as it will greatly benefit and expedite our efforts of the local community to prepare this site for design and construction activities.
