The Posey County Solid Waste office will be closed Tuesday, May 5th for Election Day. The Mt. Vernon Recycle Center will still be open from 2pm to 6 pm and The Poseyville Recycle Center will still be open from 12 pm to 6 pm on Tuesday.

We will be closed on Friday, April 3rd in observance of Good Friday. If your regularly scheduled curbside pick-up falls on Friday, your recyclables will be collected on Tuesday, April 7th. Happy Easter!

Just a reminder that it is March now so the Poseyville Yardwaste site will re-open on Wednesday, March 4th at 8:00 am. The regular hours are 8-4 on Wednesdays and Saturdays until December. As always, we will close the Saturday before Christmas and re-open the first Wednesday in March. Thank you!

There will be NO curbside pick-up in Mt. Vernon this week as it is too unsafe for our people climbing over snow piles to get to material. We will not be able to make up these days. Your next scheduled day will be next pickup. Sorry for the inconvenience but safety of our people comes first. Thank you for understanding.

Due to the dangerously cold temperatures and snowy streets, the Posey County Solid Waste will be closed tomorrow also. The Poseyville and Mt. Vernon Recycle Centers will be closed, as well as our Mt. Vernon office. There will be NO curbside pick-up on Tuesday but weather permitting, we will make up Tuesday’s route on Thursday. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Due to the inclement weather, Posey County Solid Waste will be closed tomorrow, Monday, January 26, 2026.

All of our recycle centers will be open today. We will be keeping a close eye on the snow and the cold temperatures to help determine how long we stay open. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

As of now, our recycle centers WILL be open tomorrow. If the weather is bad enough in the morning that we feel the need to close, we will post it on this page as soon as possible. We do not want to risk the lives of our workers or anyone else if the roads are a danger to drive on.
