05/31/2026

Yesterday at 4:15 PM units were dispatched to a single vehicle wreck vs a utility pole. Engine 83, Car 85, and 4 Firefighters responded. Also responding was Rockcastle County EMS and Rockcastle County Sheriff's Office. The occupant reported no injuries and was not transported.

Today at 1:31 PM units were dispatched to a single vehicle wreck into a creek with an occupant still in the vehicle. Engine 83 and 5 Firefighters responded. Also responding was Rockcastle County EMS, Rockcastle Counry Sheriff's Office, and Mount Vernon Police Department. The occupant reported no injuries but needed assistance exiting the vehicle. Firefighters assisted the occupant with exiting the vehicle and the creek. The occupant declined transport.

05/26/2026

5/26/26 at 4:07 am units were dispatched to a structure fire off of Flat Gap Road. Engine 81, Engine 83, Tanker 82, Car 85, and 6 firefighters responded. Mount Vernon Fire Department also responded automatic aid. The fire was extinguished using approximately 4000 gallons of water. The structure sustained significant damage to the kitchen and the roof/attic area. Also on scene was Rockcastle County EMS.

5/23/26 at 1:20 PM units were dispatched to a structure fire on Little Clear Creek Road. Engine 81, Tanker 82, and 6 Firefighters responded. Mount Vernon Fire Department also responded automatic aid. Upon arrival the fire was mostly extinguished by the resident. Units performed overhaul operations to check for extension and used less than 200 gallons to complete extinguishment. The resident was evaluated by Rockcastle EMS for injuries that occurred in relation to the fire. The patient refused transport. This fire was contained to the room of origin.

Yesterday at 3:18 PM units were dispatched mutual aid to a wildland fire on Hummel Road to assist Mount Vernon Fire Department. Engine 83 and 3 Firefighters responded. (Pics included)

Yesterday at 9:27 PM units were dispatched mutual aid for a wildland fire on Redhill Road. While en route to this incident a reported semi truck fire on I-75 was dispatched in the county. Due to the ongoing incidents throughout the county our engine would be the closest available unit to respond so the decision was made to divert to this incident. Engine 83, Tanker 82, and 4 Firefighters responded. Also responding to this incident was Mount Vernon Fire Department and Western Rockcastle Volunteer Fire Dept.. Upon arrival it was determined the operator of the semi truck had been able to extinguish the fire using a fire extinguisher. With no fire conditions present all units cleared scene.

Once all apparatus cleared I-75, units contacted on scene command for the original wildland fire. It was determined we were no longer needed on that incident so all units returned to service.

05/04/2026

At 7:13 PM units were dispatched to single vehicle wreck near the intersection of Scaffold Cane Road and Disputanta Road. Engine 83, Car 85, and 7 Firefighters responded. Also on scene was Rockcastle County EMS and Rockcastle County Sheriff's Office.

05/03/2026

Yesterday at 3:19 PM units were dispatched 3rd due to a structure fire on Locust Street in Mount Vernon. Engine 83, Tanker 82, and 6 Firefighters responded. Also on scene was Mount Vernon Fire Department, Brodhead Fire Department, Livingston Ky. Fire & Rescue, and Rockcastle County EMS.

Low to very low humidity, very dry fuels, and breezy conditions will combine to result in elevated Fire Danger through this evening. Winds will subside and humidity will gradually recover after sunset.

With low humidity and gusty winds today, the risk of wildland fire is high! Please do not burn anything outdoors until winds subside and humidity levels rise.

At 4:20 PM units were dispatched mutual aid to a Commercial Structure Fire on South Wilderness Road. Engine 83, Tanker 82, Car 85, and 5 Firefighters responded. Tanker 82 supplied 7800 gallons of water and Engine 83 is being utilized for scene lighting. Also on scene was Mount Vernon Fire Department, Livingston Ky. Fire & Rescue, Brodhead Fire Department, Western Rockcastle Volunteer Fire Dept., and Rockcastle County EMS.
