DID YOU KNOW? Most types of wood take about one year per inch of thickness to dry out. We offer air-dried slabs as well as slabs that have been put thru our kiln. Kiln-drying can remove as much as 9/10th of the moisture in a fraction of the time, preventing warping, making the wood resistant to fungal decay, and resulting in extremely durable furniture.

Skagit Valley Slabhaus uses rescued logs only. Nothing is cut to mill, and we've had, and continue to have, an absolute abundance! Please join our sustainable mission of sharing the magnificence of wood while leaving trees alone. Many of our logs are from local bays (dredged up after being dropped in our early century logging boom), some are unearthed from farm fields, some windfall, and each with their own story to tell.

Odds are, if there's a log in a bog anywhere near Skagit Valley or beyond in the PNW, we're getting the phone call to rescue it. The process of harvesting old growth logs and then turning them into something usable (and oftentimes beautiful) is a remarkable journey that we're grateful to be a part of.
