I enjoyed visiting with volunteers and candidates at tonight's Jefferson County Republican Christmas party. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Rest up over the next few weeks...there is a lot of work to be done in 2026!

I was happy to hear that Indiana legislators rejected the redistricting bill. Gerrymandering has no place in politics and both parties should be held accountable when they try to play these petty games. This is the current Illinois Congressional map, drawn by Govenor Pritzker and the Democrats in charge. It's time they followed Indiana's lead and rejected gerrymandering to better serve the people.

Thank you, Adam!

Tonight we voted to amend some of the 2026 tax levies to ensure that the County's portion of your property taxes don't go up! This is a big win for our taxpayers and I'm hopeful that other taxing bodies can follow suit.

The Highway Department released their 2026 Project List. As you can see, many of these projects are being funded through grants that the county is receiving. Continuing to invest in our roads and bridges is a priority of mine on the board.

Thank an Illinois Democrat for this sports betting tax! Draftkings, Fanduel, and now Fanatics sportsbooks have been forced by new state law to implement this per wager fee.

The majority party will continue to nickel and dime every aspect of our lives until voted out. From life's necessities to fun hobbies, they are always finding new ways to take your money.

While most of us were sleeping last night, Illinois Democrats were busy passing legislation that bails out the city of Chicago.

The Chicago Transit Bailout Bill passed through the House around 2:00 and then the Senate around 4:00 in the morning. The bulk of the funding will come through redirecting sales tax revenue charged on motor fuel purchases...money that we were relying on to fix our roads and bridges.

Southern Illinois is going to lose hundreds of millions in road infrastructure money because of this broken promise. Chicago's failed leadership and mismanagement of funds are now our problem every time we go to the pump. We will be paying for an upgraded transit system that most of us will never use.

I would encourage you to watch some of the clips from session. You will find that many of these Representatives, who make $85K+ annually, have no idea what is in their own bills. In the debate on the transit bailout, the sponsors of the bill couldn't answer some of the simplest questions on where this money would be coming from.

With all of the broken promises and confusion that we see from lawmakers in Springfield, it's no wonder so many are leaving the state!

* 2026 Levies and Property Taxes *

On the left, you will see the requested levies for the fiscal year 2026. On the right, you will see my proposal. The only difference is mine would cut our IMRF and F**A levies by another $66,000 each. My reasoning for that is our IMRF and F**A accounts have an excess amount of money just sitting there. Cutting $66,000 from those levies would put us just under the $4.397 million that the county collected from property taxes last year. It's my goal to keep it around that number and not raise the total sum of the levies unless needed.

In my opinion, it's not fair to the taxpayer to continue raising the levies when we already have sufficient funds in place in some of these areas.

There is a lot to this process and many things that I'm still learning. Too much to fit into a few paragraphs. But I'm happy to answer any questions on the budget or levies. I think the full tentative budget will be placed on the county website shortly for the public to view.

We will take an official vote in November.

It was nice running into Justice Amy Sholar at the Jackson County Reagan Day Dinner. Justice Sholar is a Republican who currently serves on the 5th District Appellate Court and is running for a full term. Please support Justice Sholar if she is on your ballot in 2026!

Ballots > Bullets

If you share Charlie's conservative and Christian values and aren't voting every chance you get, what are you doing?

Get registered, get your friends and family registered, get your church family registered...and then go vote...every single election!

Far too many conservative minded people stay home on Election Day. If you're one of them, please get off the sidelines and start voting!

Let's fight back not with violence, but at the polls. Charlie was instrumental in turning out millions of conservative votes nationwide. Now it's time for us to continue his work by getting the vote out.

You may have seen in the news that current State's Attorney Sean Featherstun is resigning. Sean has been an incredible SA and we will miss having him around. With that said, we're looking forward to Patrick Costa taking the reigns on October 1st. P***y will continue the legacy of hard work and being tough on crime that we've been accustomed to with Sean.

Last month, the Republican Central Committee unanimously recommended P***y to be appointed as our next State's Attorney. The recommendation was then approved unanimously by the County Board. I was honored to be a "yes" in both votes.

Pictured from left to right are Patrick Costa, State's Attorney Sean Featherstun, Jefferson County Republican Chair Blake Jones, and myself.

* Edit *

Sean is leaving on his own accord. He wants to spend more time with his family. I see a few people saying the county is forcing him out. That couldn't be further from the truth. Sean and P***y are close friends. Take that negativity somewhere else 👍
