From July 1, 2026, through July 5, 2026, you may notice an increased law enforcement presence on roadways throughout the City of Mount Vernon.
Officers with the Mount Vernon Police Department will be participating in the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP), with an emphasis on promoting safe driving behaviors and enforcing traffic laws. Enforcement efforts will focus on violations that contribute to crashes and injuries, including speeding, seat belt compliance, impaired driving, and other hazardous traffic offenses.
Our goal is simple: to help keep our roadways safe and protect everyone traveling in our community during the busy holiday weekend.
We encourage everyone to:
• Obey posted speed limits.
• Buckle up—every trip, every time.
• Never drive impaired.
• Eliminate distractions while driving.

Happy Monday. The Finance Reports presented at the regular Council Meeting held on June 08, 2026, can be found on the Financial Services page of the City website. This is a new page and still under construction, so your patience is appreciated.

Tomorrow, May 13, 2026, City Hall is expected to experience an internet outage from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. During this time, we will not be able to process card (debit or card) payments, nor will we have phone service. We will be able to accept cash or check payments, but we will not have the ability to process those payments until internet service is restored. Unfortunately, this is a maintenance issue with the vendor and out of our hands.
