Happy World Otter Day! 🦦

River otters are playful, smart, and incredibly important to healthy waterways. Their presence is a sign that rivers and wetlands are thriving. Today, let’s celebrate these curious swimmers and remember how important clean water and protected habitats are for wildlife everywhere. 🌎

Video is of a SEA otter, not river otter. Video was from the Monterey area a few weeks ago while kayaking in an estuary.

Paula: from being non responsive and critically injured to helping educate during her first class. We hosted a class at the center last week and she made her debut. She did awesome! Oh yea…. and just raised 10 healthy babies in between. Paula came in in February. She is blind with some neuro issues so that is why she will have lifetime sanctuary with us. 💜💕💜

I love this guy so much. A little grouchier than most opossums for the first few days but he knows we are no threat now and is used to us medicating and checking on him. He will eventually need have a chipped canine pulled but we are still healing multiple wounds and a hand issue. 🩺He is more active and walking around. We love his progress and his sweet face. 💜 We’ve been caring for this guy for a month now.

This little guy is ready to move out of the incubator and on to his next stage in the rehab process. Until then, he’s just going to suck on his little blanket and stare at everyone.  💜
