🥗🏆 Mountain Brook Junior High showed UP at the HEAL-icious Recipe Grand Championship earlier this week! These students competed against over 1,000 kids from 11 schools — bringing their A-game and their best healthy recipes to the table.

Mrs. Johnsey incorporates the HEAL curriculum into her classroom and helped prepare these students so well. Their hard work, creativity, and passion for healthy living showed out! 👏

MBJH Latin Students Earn Top Honors in National and State Competitions

Mountain Brook Junior High Latin students had an exceptional year, earning recognition across multiple national exams and state competitions.

On the 2026 National Latin Exam (NLE), 26 students received awards among more than 100,000 participants worldwide, with several earning top distinctions and perfect scores. Students also excelled on the National Mythology Exam, which explores classical myths, and the National Classical Etymology Exam, highlighting their understanding of Latin and Greek roots in English. Additional honors were earned on the National Roman Civilization Exam, demonstrating strong knowledge of ancient history and culture.

MBJH students continued their success at the Alabama Junior Classical League Convention, where they competed against students from across the state and earned numerous top placements in academic, artistic, and athletic events.

These accomplishments reflect the hard work of MBJH Latin students and the leadership of their teacher, Mr. Posey. Congratulations to all of this year’s award winners!

Students at Mountain Brook Junior High had the opportunity to hear from Mike Massimino on Thursday afternoon! Mike is a former NASA astronaut who now makes regular appearances on national television, podcasts and more sharing his experiences and expertise on space-related topics.

He spent time answering student's questions, sharing stories and even some insight as the Artemis II mission was recently completed. Did you know Mike was the first person to send a tweet from outer space?!
