After a lot of thought, I’ve decided that in the upcoming Commissioner election, I will be running as an Independent rather than as a Republican. This was not an easy decision. I’ve long believed in many Republican values, but I can no longer stand by while party leadership undermines the very principles it claims to represent. The current president of the Republican Party has, in my view, corrupted the party’s purpose—using pressure and intimidation rather than open discussion and accountability. When elected officials are threatened with being replaced if they don’t vote a certain way, that crosses a line. Commissioners should answer to the people they serve—not to party power plays behind closed doors. By running as an Independent, I’m choosing to stand for transparency, integrity, and independent decision-making. My loyalty is to this community and to doing what is right, not to any party boss or political agenda. I believe our local government works best when leaders think for themselves, listen to constituents, and vote based on facts and fairness—not fear. Thank you to everyone who continues to support honest leadership and accountability. I look forward to earning your trust.
