Mountain Grove Fire Dept. The Mountain Grove Fire Department consist of 6 full-time employees and 22 volunteer firefighters with various levels of training.

The Mountain Grove Fire Department is a combination department operating from three (3) stations. The department provides a wide range of services, including fire suppression, emergency medical response, vehicle extrication, and hazardous materials response, while also offering fire prevention education, inspections, and community programs. The Department currently has three (3) Engines, one (1) Ladder Truck, one (1) Tanker, one (1) rescue, one (1) brush truck and two (2) command vehicles.

Good Saturday afternoon fans. Well instead of reporting fires and such let's post something positive.

Chief Smart came up with a neat idea. It's called adopt a hydrant.

For $125 you can pick a hydrant anywhere in town and we will paint it with either a Dalmatian or the stars and strips. You will receive a certificate and people will know either you or your business adopted the hydrant. Monies collected will be put into an account to help with repairing hydrants, maintenance, and if needed replacement. Also will pay for the paint used.

It's also something we would give the town sense of pride and color. If interested you can leave us a message here or call the Chief at 417-259-0302 Monday through Friday.

Hey everyone, have seen many comments with people saying not to burn. This is very true, but many fire departments are also having these grass fires simply because it is so dry it literally takes a spark. Farmers still have to tend to their farms. A spark from a piece of metal can literally cause this.

It truly is that dry out that as crazy as this sounds, a spark from driving down a dirt from throwing a rock or hitting the metal under your vehicle is enough to light a fire. So these fires are being caused not always from human error but literally accidents.

Good morning folks, this morning while at city hall had a gentleman advise us about a storm shelter going in. This reminded me of the list we made years ago. It's time to update this list.

It's important the fire knows about them in the event we do have a major tornado we know to be checking these shelters in case a tree or large debris falls on the shelter and entraps you.

So please send us on the messenger, your address and where it's located on the property. We will make all changes and update that list in hopes it's never needed.

Good morning fans. Ever wonder what all your Rural Memberships go towards? This morning we will try and break it down a bit

1: The purchase and or maintenance of vehicles and equipment for example jaws of life.

2: turnout gear and SCBA. City pays half and Rural pays the other half on major purchase both benefits from.

3: insurance for vehicles and firefighters as well.

4: firefighters pay at the end of each year.

5: the big one at the moment. Fuel cost, this photo was just one vehicle after working several grass fires. As many seen on KY3 fuel costs are really impacting smaller departments.

With that said, wherever you live, if you have rural dues you Memberships are critical to a department doing all these things mentioned about. Fire Departments to make money, they spend money.

For anyone about ask. All fire departments are always looking for grants to better serve their communities. One issue we have noticed is many times, these grants go to larger departments and the smaller tend to be left behind. Sadly, some smaller departments are closing their doors as they simply have no funds to operate anymore and less people want to volunteer anymore.

Your Rural Memberships matter, and all departments are always looking for some new volunteers.

Good morning fans. The next few days will be warm but not hot. Rumor has it, rain may make its way here by the weekend!

Till then remember there is a burn ban in Wright County. Which means if you light a fire such as a brush pile, yard waist or an open fire you could face up to a $2,000 fine by the country. Especially if it gets out of control and a fire department is dispatched. If people see smoke they call so don't think if you live off in the woods someone won't see the smoke.

Our department ran several over the weekend. Luckily these were not started intentionally, but simply true accidents.
