For many people, The Yellow House Thrift Shoppe may look like a small thrift store on the outside… but to Gamma House, it is so much more.
Since 1991, Gamma House has been a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing safe transitional housing for women experiencing homelessness. Our mission has always been centered around providing a hand up, not a hand out. We believe every woman deserves the opportunity to heal, rebuild, and rediscover the purpose God has placed inside of her.
The Yellow House Thrift Shoppe plays a vital role in making that mission possible.
The shop helps fill in the financial gaps for the daily operations of both Gamma House and The Yellow House itself. But its impact reaches far beyond finances.
For many of our women, The Yellow House becomes part of their restoration journey from the very first day they arrive. It provides clothing when they often come with very little of their own. From everyday outfits, to interview clothing, to work uniforms for new jobs, The Yellow House helps meet practical needs while restoring dignity and confidence.
Part of our program requires our women to volunteer up to 18 hours a week, and for many, The Yellow House becomes a safe place to re-enter the workforce, sometimes for the very first time in years. It becomes a place where they learn life skills, customer service skills, responsibility, confidence, teamwork, and discover gifts and passions they never realized they had.
But one of the most beautiful things they experience is watching how our community continually shows up for them.
Every donation.
Every purchase.
Every volunteer.
Every encouraging word.
Those actions speak louder than words ever could.
They remind each woman:
You are loved.
You are seen.
You are worthy.
You are not forgotten. And you still have a purpose.
Right now, we are prayerfully searching for another location so we can continue God’s work through this small but mighty thrift shoppe.
We are currently looking for retail space to rent in the Mountain Home area that is approximately 2,500–3,000 square feet. The rent we can realistically afford is no more than $900 per month.
If you or someone you know may have a building, storefront, or opportunity that could help, we would love to connect and partner with you.
Please continue praying for Gamma House, The Yellow House, and the women we serve every single day.
The Yellow House Thrift Shoppe exists because of a community that continues to love well, give generously, and believe restoration is possible.
Thank You,
Gamma House
