We did some sign maintenance last week and continued to knock on doors and re-canvass the neighborhoods with our volunteers. I’m glad we are hitting the neighborhoods to remind everyone about the run-off election as well as the early voting dates and location.

I had breakfast with my friend Benny Speaks at the Paul Bunyan Breakfast held at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. Lots of folks and great food. I was able to visit with several people I haven’t seen in a while and catch up with them.

We had a busy basketball day watching the Lady Bombers in the state basketball tournament and the Razorbacks in the SEC tourney. The Lady Bombers took a loss in the finals of the state tournament but had a great year. The Mountain Home Lady Bombers and Norfork Lady Panthers are great examples for the kids in our communities, and we are fortunate to have these great schools and programs for our kids.

We finished the day at the Norfork Volunteer Fire Department Chili Supper. Another great meal and fellowship!

Remember, early voting starts March 24th at the First United Methodist Church on West Road, from 8A-4:30P, and will continue until Run-Off election day on March 31st, from 7:30A-7:30P.

I appreciate your support and your vote!

Kaye and I spent Saturday afternoon at the annual Cotter Chili Lunch and Auction at the Cotter Firehouse. Great chili and lots of auction items for the fundraiser. We talked with lots of friends and supporters and Kaye connected with the mom of one of her former students.

I stopped by Salesville City Hall Monday night for the monthly city council meeting. Reconnected with some folks from an earlier visit and got to visit with longtime Gassville Police Chief and Salesville Mayor Tim Mayfield.

Vote Mark Hollingsworth for Baxter County Sheriff!

From the Desk of Mark Hollingsworth:

As the primary period ends, the run-off election period begins. There is plenty of work to do for the next 3 weeks. It is going to be important that we get back to the polls and exercise our right to vote. It is important to get our message out, but it is equally important to have a great turnout.

Early voting starts on March 24th and runs through March 30th. Early voting will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Mountain Home from 8:00A-4:30P each day. Run-off election day will be March 31st and will run from 7:30A-7:30P. Vote centers will be open throughout Baxter County, allowing voters to vote at any available polling location regardless of their home precinct.

On another note, congratulations to the Mountain Home Lady Bombers and Norfork Lady Panthers basketball teams who both advanced in the respective state tournaments and are continuing to fight to bring home a state championship. Great representatives for Baxter County! Good luck Lady Bombers and Lady Panthers! 🏀🏀

We met with friends, family, and supporters for our post-election watch event at the Back Forty restaurant. Nothing like friends and a Barn Buster! We had good numbers and believed we got our message out to the voters of Baxter County. We are going to continue at the same pace and work hard to earn your vote every day leading up to Election Day.

I spoke with Henry Campfield this morning. He may be leaving the race, but he made the election and campaign process better for everyone around him. I made a couple of observations about him over the past few months and noticed he always brought a positive attitude to every event, he always made me want to do better, and he always found a way to mention something about his family. He’s a class act and ran a great campaign and I’m proud to call him my friend.

I want to thank you for your support in the primary election and ask for your continued support and vote in the run-off election. Vote Hollingsworth for Sheriff!

•As a State Trooper I developed expertise in crime scene processing and conducting criminal investigations.
•As a Deputy Sheriff I gained firsthand experience in county law enforcement and community engagement.
•As the Chief Deputy of a Sheriff’s Office, I gained experience in operating and managing a jail and a budget.

I’ve made a point to push Mark Hollingsworth and what I will bring to the Sheriff’s Office on day 1. I have explained improvements, not changes or hopes, and explained how I will move the Sheriff’s Office forward to make our community safer. I’ve been consistent with my message since announcing my candidacy.

I recently read a mailer promoting another candidate that stated, in part, the other candidates are touting “BIG CHANGES” to the Sheriff’s Office that involved the jail, website, managing the office like a state or federal agency, and making sure a true conservative is elected Sheriff. The mailer went on to state that boasting about disassembling the Sheriff’s Office is not progress.

I haven’t boasted about disassembling the Sheriff’s Office. I manage a jail that was recently commended by the state Jail Review Committee for the management and operation of the jail, as well as the training program for staff. It has policies and procedures in place to minimize litigation that might require writing a check to a plaintiff in a lawsuit. It’s anything but a hotel. The website is an important tool for transparency and keeping the public informed, and should be continued. The Sheriff leads and manages the department, not the state or federal government. I do plan to work with our state and federal law enforcement partners and use the relationships I have built with them when needed. I’m a proven, professional, conservative law enforcement leader.

Early voting continues this week and I humbly ask for your vote.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks and I don’t expect the pace to slow down. I started the week with a meeting at the Buford Volunteer Fire Department with several Firefighters present with some great questions. I appreciate Chief Syfrett allowing me to speak and share my ideas for the Sheriff’s Office. The weekend was busy with a fish fry and “meet the candidates” event at the fairgrounds. Over 300 people attended. Good food, fellowship and interaction with voters. I spent Saturday evening with the Salesville Volunteer Fire Department talking shop with Chief Malloy and his Firefighters.

On Wednesday morning I took part in the KTLO candidate forum. The event was carried live by KTLO and was well attended at the Food Bank of NCA. I stayed on my plan emphasizing obtaining body worn cameras and increased training for deputies.

Before I close out, I want to thank some former area Sheriffs for their endorsement. Former Baxter County Sheriff and State Drug Director Joe Edmonds, former Marion County Sheriff Carl McBee, former Fulton County Sheriff Kenneth “Buck” Foley, and former Newton County Sheriff and state representative Keith Slape endorsed my candidacy for Sheriff. The Sheriffs cited our close working relationships and experience over the years. Their endorsements signify a level of support from experienced law enforcement leaders and reflect their trust in my ability to lead effectively and address community issues, as they have first hand experience in that role.

Remember, early voting starts tomorrow!

From the desk of Mark Hollingsworth…

When you choose a Sheriff, you’re not just choosing someone to wear a badge- you’re choosing someone you trust to protect your family, uphold the law with fairness, and lead from the front every day.

I’ve spent over 43 years in law enforcement, serving in roles as a detention officer, deputy sheriff, state trooper and chief deputy. I’ve led investigations that brought justice to victims, coordinated emergency responses that saved lives, and built partnerships with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations. However, leadership in this job isn’t about titles- it’s about showing up, making tough decisions, and being accountable every day.

Beyond the job, I’m also your neighbor. I’ve raised my family in Baxter County. My wife taught school in Baxter County, we shop at the same stores that you do and drive on the same roads you drive on every day. I know and understand your concerns because they are also my concerns.

My vision as your Sheriff is simple: provide public safety that is transparent and promotes trust. That means putting deputies where there are needed most, treat our citizens with respect and keep them informed; not just when it’s easy, but especially when it’s hard.

I’m asking for your vote because I believe Baxter County deserves a Sheriff who leads from the front and will protect your rights, enforce the law, and understands the badge is a symbol of service, not power.

On Election Day, let’s choose safety, let’s choose integrity, and let’s choose a Sheriff who will work for you.

I’m Mark Hollingsworth and I’m ready to serve.
