🚔❤️ National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day ❤️🚔

The National Association of School Resource Officers encourages schools and communities to recognize the valuable work of School Resource Officers each year on February 15. Established in 2022, this day honors the dedication of officers who help bridge the gap between law enforcement and youth while working every day to keep our schools safe.

Today, we proudly recognize MPSD Police Department Chief Richard Lobbs for his leadership, commitment, and daily presence in our district. Chief Lobbs works tirelessly to build positive relationships with students while ensuring a safe learning environment for all.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Red Devil Institutional Police Department volunteer auxiliary officers:
• Lieutenant Daryl Scott
• Sergeant Joseph Alderman
• Officer Josh Walpole Sr.

Thank you for volunteering your time to protect our students, staff, and community, and for always answering the call when needed.

We are grateful for your service, dedication, and heart for Mountain Pine. ❤️🤍

📣 📣 📣 Mountain Pine Red Devil Band attended Region 2 Concert Assessment and Sightreading Competition today at Lake Hamilton 📣 📣 📣

Concert Assessment is a competition where a band will prepare music for three judges to score the performance on a 1-5 scale based on things like correct notes and rhythms and over all sound as well as other categories. The band will take the stage and each judge will give comments and ratings while listening to the performance. The rating scale is as follows:
5- poor - music was not recognizable
4- okay - music had moments but needs work
3- good - music had good moments but minor issues
2- excellent-music was great overall with some issues
1- superior - music was as best as can be performed

Today, Mountain Pine took the stage and performed very well and earned ratings of 1, 2, 2 from each the three judges. This is composited into a rating overalll of a 2 (excellent) on stage.
Composite ratings of 1 and 2 will quality you for Arkansas State Concert Assessment in April, in which we have qualified‼️

We also competed in Sightreading after the stage performance. Sightreading consists of students recieving music they have never played before, getting 8 minutes of teaching from the director to learn the piece, all without ever playing a note in those 8 minutes. Then when the timer is up, we perform the piece and hope for the best! Not only are we graded on the music performance but on how we use the time to teach and how well the students respond to said teaching time. It is rated like the above assessment but by one judge.

Mountain Pine received the highest rating you can get in the sightreading room - a rating of SUPERIOR!!!

We are so proud of these kids and the hardwork and time they have put into learning this music and the craft of learning an instrument. The last two or three weeks saw a drastic change in the quality and sound from the students themselves and the band overall. Steck and Graham and the band boosters could not be prouder and can’t wait to take the stage at State Concert Assessment in April! ♥️ 🎶 🎺 🎷 🥁

PS: They really enjoyed going to CiCi’s Pizza afterwards so thank you Band Boosters and Parents for making that possible! They deserved it!
